Just got back from vacation and my 1 month old ducks poop looks very odd!

Good afternoon my friends!

We just got back from vacation and my mom was taking care of my 3 ducklings that are still too young to join the flock.

My mother put down newspaper under their wood chips, (she didn’t know better and thought it would make it easier to clean)
This morning Tulip, who was born on Easter, did some very strange looking poopy. It’s grey and looks like a bunch of little balls stuck together. When I picked it up it was mushy and looked like wet newspaper!
Could she be eating the newspaper even if they have plenty of food, vegetables and treats?
I’m sure the ink can be potentially dangerous and I’m worried about her and the others because their poopy was normal when we left.
I have enclosed a picture the latest one.

Many thanks for taking a look! 💕

That is very strange looking poop, I haven't seen anything like it.
It's definitely probable that she's eating the newspaper. It's bound to get wet and they don't know better
The ink could be dangerous, so I would get some activated charcoal on hand in case you need to flush her system. Can't hurt to get everything together incase she shows signs of poisoning.
If she's behaving normally, I would ensure the newspaper is all gone, and provide some chick grit for her, to help her digest and pass anything that could clog her system.

And aside from that I'd just monitor her for now, and see if her poops go back to normal.
Is she on duckling crumble? Is she getting treats?

Perhaps new duck mommy will be able to give her thoughts on this, as I've never seen poops like that before.
