Welcome! I just joined as well. We have all those critters except the bear here in southern california at 1300 altitude! We are still working out Fort Knox and would be interested to see whatever you end up doing. I knit and bake bread too! Good luck with all your projects!Hello! I live in southern Colorado on a ridge at 7k' altitude. We have a few acres, are off grid and building a house, and we want fresh eggs! But we do have bears, mountain lions, bobcats, coyotes, foxes...weasels, raccoons, skunks, you name it we got it.
I knit, love to bake bread, and we have a greenhouse that needs outfitting. Trying to be more self sufficient, and eat healthier.
So, hopefully we can have lots of great information exchanges!
BYC is a helpful site providing all the information you need to know about poultry! There is always space for more members on the BYC roost!
Mesh or chicken wire definitely isn't a wise idea with bears or mountain lions. I agree that hardware cloth is of best choice. Hope you enjoy it here as much as we all do!
We are glad you joined our flock!

Welcome Leslie!
Sounds like you have a busy life!
How did you find BYC?![]()
