Just noticed something unique about my blue fawn call drake

I was locking in the ducks tonight and noticed that my blue fawn call drake has 2 different colors in both of his eyes. A greyish color and brown. There is more grey on one side. I thought this was interesting and was wondering what causes it. His brother’s eyes are not like this. They’re just brown.

He has heterochromia. It's nothing bad, just a genetic thing. My turkey has it too

I've never seen that before, but, some vitamins, like Omega-three fatty acids, and vitamin A plays an important role in maintaining eye health. It's possible a lack of one, could cause some ocular discoloration. Genetics is also a possibility,

There are some conditions, like Heterochromia, as mentioned by JacinLarkwell that can cause discoloration in the eye as well.

Not sure of ducks can get it, but odd pupil shape can be from ocular mareks. As long as it's just iris color thpugh, I don't think that's a risk

that’s nothing to worry about, never seen it in ducks but it’s common in cats and even humans (only worry i believe is white cats with one blue eye have a very high chance to be blind, not sure if that applies to ducks)

Didn't know that. I know white male blue-eyed cats are often deaf; it's a sex-linked characteristic.

Mareks is not a real problem with Waterfowl.

@JacinLarkwell that’s a cool turkey and @Isaac 0 do you think it could be a vitamin issue if none of my other calls have this when they’re all housed together and fed the same things? I’m trying to look back on my photos and see if it was there when he was a duckling. I know little about his genetic background other than the fact that his mother was a butterscotch and his father was a grey. His brother is a blue fawn pied and has fully grey colored eyes.

I do believe he’s always had it and I just haven’t noticed.
looking back at some of the closeup pictures I have I did slightly notice it. I don’t notice it in his duckling pictures but I did notice from when he was around 1 month old.
