Call Duck Assortment from Metzers

Hello! This thread’ll be for updates (like daily or weekly pictures) of my (2 call and 2 other) ducklings from Metzers, just to show them off, and because I think I might be the first person on BYC to buy some (or at least to post about them. I’ll get to show y’all some cute ducklings, and show you what it’ll be like if you’re looking to buy some from there!

The date I picked was 1/29/24, and according to an email I got they hatch and ship Monday-Wednesday, and they’ll get here Wednesday-Saturday. I ordered 1 Female Magpie, 1 Female Fawn and White Runner, and 2 Assorted Unsexed Call Ducks (2 or more different colors guaranteed per order). The reason why I’m getting more ducklings is because right now I have a singular Welsh Harlequin Hen. During Christmas break my two other WH hens got sick and didn’t make it while I was on vacation and my dad was watching them. Her name is Figgy, and the other two were Mango and Blackberry.

The colors in the assortment are Snowy, Penciled, Black, White, Blue, Pastel, and Gray. I’m reallllyyy hoping for a penciled since they’re super cute, and I’m also hoping for 1 male (or at least none) so the possibility of having to make a bachelor flock isn’t there. I’d also really appreciate name suggestions or for you to tell me a favorite of the ones I’ve said. I’ll probably wait to name them after they’re here for a few days so I can get to know them. So far my top 6 names are Daisy, Pepper, Nessie, Lily, Willow, and Millie. And my whole name list I keep for any and all future pets I’ll ever get is

Of course! This’ll be for my daily or weekly pictures too, but you can definitely join in and post updates whenever you want. It’ll also help with others trying to find how people feel about the assortment, and maybe the quality of the calls too, but I don’t really know much about that.

If I remember correctly from someone who used to raise them, you could tell pretty soon if they were definitely pet quality. I think it's probably harder to tell show quality but I think when they hatch, they should have a shorter bill if they have any hopes.

Yeah, they’ll probably be mostly “pet quality” even in the posted adult pictures you can tell that a few of colors definitely have bills that are too long
