I just called our vet at home and left a message. I imagine she's at church and will call back when she gets home. Kane can't stop vomiting. Thank goodness our vet isn't like most doctors nowadays; she doesn't mind calls at home.

Hope he gets to feeling better soon. I it is so distressing when they are sick. Riot hates the Pepto bottle, but he has that lovely GSD weak tummy so we have to do it every so often. He just looks pitiful as soon as he sees it.

I hope that it is nothing serious with his foot and that you both get some sleep tonight. You will probably wake up to check on him a hundred times!

I know this sounds weird, and I'm not sure how old your dog is, but I have a German Shepherd (at work), and he started limping really badly when he was about 12-18 months old. I thought for sure it was his foot, as he wouldn't walk on it at all, but couldn't find ANYTHING stuck in it, or other sign of trauma. My boss had me take him to the Vet, and they told me that it was a syndrome that young large breed dogs get, that affects their joints , like growing pains, And that it wasn't his foot, but actually his shoulder. They said it will move from leg to leg, front to back, appearing suddenly, at odd times. They gave him some painkillers, and told us to keep him quiet and confined, and within a week, it had gone away like magic. Every now and then, he'll have a strange ache, but like they said, it shows up suddenly, then goes away. We were given actual dog prescription meds for that, I forget what they were called, but I recognized the name from when my animals were neutered/spayed. It was the same kind of prescription for pain.

On another note, I give my 12 yr old 100# Lab/Pit mix buffered aspirin called Ascriptin, one pill when his arthritis is really hurting him. Its doesn't upset his stomach, and he usually has a sensitive stomach too (due to two gastrointestinal surgeries to remove inhaled items).

I hope your baby is okay. I've enjoyed seeing the pics you've posted of your dogs here before. They are beautiful.

Dr. Bonnie never did call back. Not sure what's up with that. She's usually very prompt.

At any rate, we got enough pepto into him that it seems to have stopped the vomiting, although he's not interested in eating anything. His foot still hurts bad. I did find one vetprofen tablets left over from when Charlie was sick with her cancer. According to the vet's label on it, it's still good, but don't want to give it to him until he eats something.

BTW, Jax will be 2 y.o. next month and Kane is 14 months old.

Hey Gritty, I'm sorry your baby is hurting. I know how that hurts you too.

Just so you know for any time down the road they have tummy trouble, Maalox comes in tablet form. I give it mine in a Pill Pocket, some cheese or a couple spoonfuls of babyfood meats. One you find out what's up with his tummy and foot, canned pumpkin can help get his system back on track. Mine eat it right off the spoon, lol.
