Karma -- Thoughts?

Games and jokes are not the same as 'I believe this, and people who don't believe as me are wrong and stink'.

ok so lets not beat a dead horse and get this shut down please?

I judge each day by whether I've learned something new and done a good deed. If either goal is met, then it's been a good day. If both were accomplished then it was a great day.
I also try to remember to count my blessings every day.

It's less about karma and more about my own growth as a person.

Ever have the feeling like "today must be a karma day".

My DS came up from Ct for a visit and we were talking about our mother. 21 seconds later I stub my toe. Hard. Granted I shouldn't be talking bad about the woman that bore and raised me, but as the woman that ran off with my boyfriend and divorced my dad and married said boyfriend I feel I have room to complain. Then when talking about dear dad I get burned by the tomato sauce I am making. Come on Karma, give me a break. That, my friends is Insta-Karma.

Hate days like this.

Bummer...it does sound like you have the right to complain; but the laws of karma say that you are better off if you don't...

Thinking or talking badly about someone (no matter how well deserved we feel it is) is in the 'unskillful' karma area. It raises your karmic debt, like taking money out of a savings account; you don't have as much in 'there'. We know that on a higher spiritual level, that we shouldn't talk or think badly about others. It affects us when we do things that we shouldn't; it distracts us and we stub our toe or burn ourselves with tomato sauce. It is not karma; we do it to ourselves. That is what karma is really about...

It seems the only one that gets hurt when I dwell on bad thoughts is ME....
