I think the same Buddhists would argue folks like Jesus Christ, Muhammad, Buha'u'llah, etc were boddhisatvas; beings who forsake being with god to help all of mankind.

IMHO... Bingo...

Agreed.

ON I think it would be fun if you and I could have that conversation here.

Other people might find the exchange enlightening! Not that I am an expert on these things, but I suspect we know more about both of these subjects than your average american.

People might be shocked to see the similarities at how both of these systems work.

But, I suspect it would get shut down reeeeaaaaaal quick.

(did we happen to mention that us "nontraditional" folks tend to have a whacked out sense of humor?)

CM..
did we happen to mention that us "nontraditional" folks tend to have a whacked out sense of humor?

Really....I thought people looked at me funny because they don't let me out of the forest that often....

Speaking of whacked out... I have been thinking about IHWIMY all day today.....

SO, what happened to your Korean war friend? Did you help him find what he was looking for? Say maybe in June? Or did you loose him in the darkness of early summer?

You know you get extra Karma points for helping folks out that exist in another plane..

Actually ON I had forgotten about him. I never did find out who he was. I spoke to a military chaplain about "dismissing" those who were stuck trying to obey orders even after death. It turned into sort of a big thing as supposedly several of the chaplains of differing faiths discussed it together. He said that now most of them order the dead to stand down and tell them they are free to go home.

Perhaps that was all I was supposed to do.

I also talked to a medic about the idea and she said she could really understand why the men would stay, but that she would never tell them they could go unless they were already dead. When I said that should still help she looked at me like I had a screw loose.

What are you gonna do?

Ok....I've been trying to figure out where I fit in here. I'm definately with the 'whacked out' sense of humor people and I'm kinda 'nontraditional' but I'm pretty spiritual and I'm the last person that would tell anyone that my way is the only way.

Anybody reading this ever study quantum physics? I'm just wondering because I do (probably comes under the heading of 'nontraditional') and the more I know about it, the more I can be comfortable with my 'faith'. Did you know that light can be a particle and a wave? And that attempting to observe the process of analizing it changes the outcome? Really interesting, at least to me. If you want to learn about it (without having to do the math) I'd suggest reading QED by Richard P. Feynman. Extrememly brilliant teacher; I'll bet he could have explained stuff to a cockroach...

So back to karma; I don't think it's about a balance of good and not good. I think it is the purposeful acts of people who strive to do the right thing. I don't think it has to do with reincarnation so much as refreshing our soul. I think we refresh and advance our soul by doing the right things...

Hey noodleroo... I sure do enjoy your point of view.. Non traditional, eclectic, free spirited, non conformist...on and on and on.. It is a big tent..

Yes quantum physics, I have not studied it per say, but I am aware of and highly fascinated by what you speak of. I believe they call it "potencia" (sp?) A very interesting scientific discovery. Imagine, a thought or desire effecting physical outcome...

I am aware of a many "non traditional" folks who get really excited by the work being done in quantum physics..

IMO this point fits in very very well with a discussion of Karma. In my mind it is one of the same..

Be well..

Oh, IHWIMY... Thanks I have been thinking about that situation last spring quite a bit lately. (Boy did I spin out and crash in early summer. Senses completely numb to the world around me.. Yuck it was depressing and ugly...) Glad I am back to my wacked self

OrganicsNorth and anybody else interested; you can Google 'wave particle duality' and 'double slit experiment' and get a good sampling of some basic truths in the quantum world. You do not have to be a rocket scientist to understand it; really you don't.

And yes, I surround myself with a big tent full of thoughts; I need to look at the whole picture....
