Ok, raising ducks. The waterer must be deep enough for them to clean their nairs. and they need a starter feed that has enough niacin. A wild game or turkey starter will get you there. They will make a tremendous mess in the brooder, but once out on pasture not so much. And they lay extra large eggs... if you can find them. They are very good at hiding them.

I’m okay with messy brooders. When I raise baby chicken chicks I cleaned it 2x per day. I’ll be okay with putting the extra effort in to cleaning it more often than that, if need be. I have read on how to raise them, so I know about the waterer and the niacin percentage needed. Thank you so much! This was really helpful :hugs

Still deciding on a duck breed  I thought I had settled on ordering pekins & Cayugas... but I think I’m going to find some ducklings locally. I’ve still got to work on the whole chicken situation as well. I’m thinking they’ll go to someone locally, whom I know will take good care of them. :)

Egg production is definitely picking up! :woot  :celebrate

I got 6 yesterday :bow

Out of 21 chickens, I currently have 6 or 7 girls old enough to lay. And some will never lay, as some are cockerels :lau
