I'm honestly surprised that she thought it would be best not to ask first. I mean, this girl said she had a skunk at one point. Chickens are a lot more reasonable if you ask me.

As a mother, I feel children ought to only have pets when they are mature enough. Lying, deception, and sneaking are not what I would call mature.

Looks to me most of the folks here weren't encouraging lying of any sort. Most of the posts encouraged her to tell her mother.
