Keeping Ducks Cool

How do you all keep your ducks cool in the summer? I took my 3 week old ducklings out today in the 90° heat. Within minutes of being outside, they started to pant. I filled a small pool with water and put them inside. Of course the panting stopped shortly after that.

Is the fact that they’re 3 weeks old why they started panting so quickly? How do you keep your ducks cool in the summer time? It can reach 110°here..

Mine have access to their pool and chill out In the shade. We rarely get out of the 80’s though.

Give them shade and they will be fine, During hot weather I noticed mine will rarely go into water, I assume its because of the added humidity on their body if they do? Iowa is HOT in the summer and COLD in the winter, Never have had any problems. Last year it got up too 100F and we had no problems at all.
