I think good clean dirt is healthy for kids. My kids played in mud, creeks, woods,rolled in grass, caught worms and bugs, you name it, they were into it. 14 year old DS will go grab the pack of hotdogs, get a branch, and cook a hotdog in the yard over a little built fire. Somehow it always manages to get dirt all over it. SIL was mortified I let my kids get filthy. But guess what. My kids are hardly ever sick, hers are sick ALL the time.
