Keeping flock in multiples of...

This morning I had one of my girls pass away from shock of being treated for water belly, she was part of a flock of three and the second highest on the pecking order.

I thought I had read before that flocks should be kept in odd numbers to keep pecking order. Is that correct? Do we need to find ourselves a new pullet to have three birbs again?

Odd or even doesn't matter. If you want to add more chickens, you should get two more. If you add just one more, your current pair will gang up on the new hen. Two more hens will be able to defend each other.
