Or, apparently, going to a party where a friend had a joint and passed it to you. Better to let the kids starve, I'm sure.

NO, its better the kids should be taken from the parents that are doing illegal drugs.....
Then when the parents can pass a drug test..,.. get the kids back home. And then keep testing the parents. To make sure the kids are in a safe enviroment.
Just my opinion.. if you have kids..drugs are DONE with..period.

I am not going to debate with you over whether someone whose kids are at the grandparents for the night is somehow abusing their kid by smoking a joint at a party once a year (and reserve the right to laugh at you if you do claim it). Yet someone who does that once a year is just as subject to losing their benefits as someone who actually abuses meth on a daily basis. And that's just silly.

Let's stick with what the law is actually about - which is cutting off benefits to people who test positive on a potentially faulty test. No one deserves to lose their food and medical over a possible false positive. Especially the kids and the vulnerable adults - disabled, elderly, chronically ill. Especially since those are the ones who really can't fight it when the tests are wrong. They're the ones who will suffer.

You really believe that all these tests will be faulty? Come on now...

They give you the right to say you have had poppy seeds before every drug test I have ever taken.

Tons of people sell their foodstamps for half price even on the card. They give it to the person to use, go to the store with them and get their card back afterwards.

Lie detector test are not 100% accurate either but darn close.

I mentioned in my original post that I think all state or federal funded money should require this.

It will be in all states soon enough for welfare first and foremost.

I think it's terrible. Maybe they should disallow people who are overweight, smoke, drink, etc. Seriously, where does it end? I think it would be better to legalize drugs, and make people work for welfare. I think having to work 40 hours for a check would have a greater impact than drug tests. Do members of congress, senators, or the president get drug tested? Of course not. They make the rules.

So what your saying is I can kill someone "once" and its ok for me to do that but it is not ok for the serial killer to kill everyday?

If its wrong it is wrong/illegal period.

Also there will be a fair hearing process if you want to dispute the results of the drug test, I am sure.

All? No. Of course not. Some percentage of them? Yes. Who will get a false positive? No one knows. That's the problem. The unfortunate ones who do get false positives are going to be punished and are likely to be the ones least up to protecting their rights.

And laugh all you want, but you're celebrating an evil law that attacks vulnerable members of our society, including those kids you purport to care about.

Where does it end with people abusing the system and their kids?

They have to try and do something.

I think its a good idea, i used to work in a grocery store in connecticut, and i used to see alot of people come in to the store and ask if we can give them cash in exchange for thier foodstamps. for example, if they had 300 in their foodstamps, they would say charge $300 on the card, give me $200 and keep $100 for the store, but the store i worked for NEVER did that.

Sorry, I just can't take that seriously...
Yeah. Taking a smoke of pot at a party once a year is equivalent to killing someone. Yeah. Right.

Oh, and, I'm sure you never ever ever speed in your car, or run a red light or ... because, if its[sic] wrong it is wrong/illegal period.

I'm sorry, I didn't know this was a humor thread. You should've put it in the Games and Jokes section!
