Kentucky people

I am in Hart County just south of Hodgenville. I called the Hardin County Hatchery and the woman said they no longer hatch birds there but she places orders on one-day olds from a supplier just like you can order direct from Mt Healthy, Ideal, Murray McMurray, etc.

I also called Hardin County this morning and they have smaller minimum (15) but you can't pick them up, they have to ship them again. Sounds like a really good way to stress the birds out! How is this place still in business?

Help fellow kentuckians, I am on the lookout for some Rouen ducklings. If anyone has them or knows of a place to get them locally please let me know. I am willing to travel a bit for them. I am in Bracken county.

Hey all. I was given about 20 chickens this past weekend and it looks to me that there are about 5-6 are roosters. This is the first time that I've ever had chickens so there are a few that I am unsure about regarding sex. Some of the chickens are older, and some were hatched out recently (but are fully feathered). I'm going to head home tonight and take individual pictures of each bird, but is anybody interested in a few extra roosters? The flock is made up of several breeds: white leghorns, barred rock, speckled sussex, australorp, and one bantam rooster (we want to keep him). Other than the bantam rooster, all the other roosters need to go. It's just too many roosters for such a small flock, and I have a few chicks coming in March from Meyer Hatchery. If you're interested let me know. They're free; pick-up only. I'm going to post an add on CL soon as well. We're in Northern KY (Grant County).

We wont be hatching for a couple of months. My birds are all in the midst of an ugly full flock moult and just aren't laying. We are about to get them all seperated to start keeping eggs in a month or so.

We will be hatching pet quality silkies (partridge and white) LF silver duckwing Phoenix, partridge Wyandotte bantams, and some awesome little Cochins (both blue and black). Perhaps a few bbred oegb. Then maybe just some mixed layers.... Will have to wait and see on that.

Should be a fun spring and summer!!
