Jon was who ya met at the feedstore, he is the one who is out of school. Sammy - well, you wouldn't forget Sam anytime soon - he's memorable. Sam is the senior in high school.

I used to be one of those moms - in fact, after a long winter, the first beautiful day of spring, I let my boys stay home and hang outside and play - just because Michigan Sucks. But they started to skip (well, play sick, not "skip" skip) and I stopped letting them have fun days.

I was one of those moms who used to paint my children
smile.png
We'd take poster paints, and they'd run around the neighborhood in nothing but shorts with paint all over their bodies. Oh, btw, for future reference, the Red really stays with the skin - harder to get off than the other colors
wink.png

Of course, I was also the "mean mom" who loved to play dirty tricks on them.
gig.gif
I did this (well, still do) up until they got old enough to catch me before they got caught. Adam, my oldest, is the easy one
lau.gif

He was 17 years old, and he worked for me (I was his boss at work) and he had this problem with not shaving, and did he look scraggly!! I was on him all the time... well, one day he came into work, and he had remembered to shave without me yelling at him, and I was standing and talking to two of my friends I worked with... well, he comes up to us and says "see Mom, I shaved" with this smug little face on him. So I asked "did you remember to shave your palms?" And He LOOKED!!!! Bwahahahahaha!!!!! We all about fell down laughing, and he got mad and says "Moooom, that's not funny!!" I said "well, if you hadn't of looked it wouldn't have been funny, but since you DID look, it's hillarious".

I miss that kid
lau.gif
he's sooo easy
wink.png

You would think that by that age he'd know me better than that

Well, gonna go organize the dishes, maybe I can get hubby to wash them.

Meri

Ok, I lied. I haven't done anything but sit here and look at genealogy sites.

I did however, inform hubby that my plan was to go to Shelley's tomorrow, would be back as close to noonish as I could - he just nodded
smile.png
So I'll be seeing you tomorrow Shelley (as long as Cindy isn't too late getting here
smile.png
)

I ought to be going to bed, I have to get up way early to take jon to buy his stoopid game.

well, g'night all -
meri

I think I will be watching the newspapers to see if these three get into something. Girl's nite out.... ice cream, candy, ice for the drinks, maybe popcorn and a chick flick CD. I've seen it many of times... I work nites. . . . in retail.

Dum, de-dum dum DUMMMM...

Well, think Dragnet if you are old enough.

My 4 day old chicks have wing feathers. and are running around their brooder box. I'm keeping the temp and humidity up by keeping old bath water in the tub. It sucks to have to clean it before using it but otherwise the chicks water tends to evaporate.

If you remember they are Del X Cornish meat chicks and are all yellow. some with a broad stripe down their backs.

My camera will unload the first 75 pics out of about 400 and then quits. Well those are from 6 months ago. I'll work on it more next week when I get more time. This is my work week. 12 on 12 off. not much play time.

US? Get into something? NEVER!!
lau.gif
Congrats on the chickies...

Glad you stopped in...Was beginning to think we were the only 3 addicts left.

Meri As soon as I put my Serama back in its brooder it went straight to the food and water and was running back and forth from the light to the food and water...Think it was glad to be back. Boy they really have some personality. How are the chicks doing so far?
I am exhausted but I have to go finish cleaning the laundry room...Ron let me get another washer and dryer and we're giving the other set to his daughter. And they are delivering the new ones tomorrow morning. Whew what a chore. I'm the kind that folds the laundry but leave it on the table in the laundry room. Now I have to clean it off. Thinking about leaving it...They don't need that space anyway. Was going to get a set of those big front loaders, they were marked down over $1000.00 but the stands for them were 3-4 hundred dollars each...Nope. Got a pair of the neptune front loaders instead no need for stands and a lot less money, they were on closeout too. Now I can get more done at one time. Less time in the laundry=more time on here
lau.gif
.

I had fun today going to visit you and Shelley...Maybe I'll bring Layne next time so he can play with the dogs and torment your guineas.

Well gonna look around and then get back to work, Cindy

, yeah, we'll be like Thelma, Louise and Louise (ala - Larry, Darrel and Darrel... now I'm dating myself, too,
lau.gif
)

and I know what you mean, I used to work at a Subway sub shop - sometimes I'd have to work nights. Some VERY weird (drunk, stoned, otherwise impaired) people come into those places at night.

I've been checking (and rechecking
smile.png
) the bator - no pips yet, but it's early. Not sure if the humidity has gone up in the house or what, but the humidity in the bator has gone up 4% since this morning. No other dif except it's been raining outside off and on for two days.

The two babies I have from Cindy in the brooder keep peeping a lot - they seem confused
lau.gif
poor babies.

I had to turn off that heat bulb - and I put a regular 100 watt into the snake lamp and have that over them, the 250 was WAY too hot in the room.

Cindy, how is the serama chick doing? did she recover at all when ya got her back home? Poor baby was so small, the other two kept stomping on her, so Cindy took her back home to brood her there.

Oh, and Cindy says Miss Celie is a Barred Rock
gig.gif
- I never knew what she was, but I thought she might be. Got her at the auction a year ago, never knew what mix she might be.

Oh, Cindy, after you left, I went in to check the cochins again, and Rudy came over like he had earlier, but this time he kept hopping straight up and down in front of me
lau.gif
gig.gif
I picked him up and he settled right into my arms, cooing at me - he is such a sweetie!!! I'm thinking a lot of that stretching up tall is him trying to tell us to pick him up and cuddle him
big_smile.png
the big lover boy.

I went over to the boy's house to clean after Cindy left, and all I can say is -- OH - MY - GOD !!!!! The kitchen sink was black!!! They had pop spilled on the counter that took me 5 minutes to clean off. There was a funky vinegar smell - I figure that was pop or sweet tea that had gone bad - they don't ever have food over there other than drinks.

Then I walked into the bathroom.

I won't give details, here... you don't want to know.... I don't want to know..... :::::shudder:::::

It's nice to have peeping in the sewing room again
smile.png
I love baby chickies. I can't wait until mine hatch out.

well, I'd better go clean something else. (after I catch up on BYC, of course
lau.gif
)

ETA - I must have been typing while Cindy was posting

Wow!! I wish my hair was that shiny!!
smile.png
I wouldn't want to cut it either if it were mine, but then again, I am a girl!!
gig.gif

How are the babies doing Cindy? Cris just loves that little fish. I showed it to him when he got home and he says 'AWWWW!!!
love.gif
I want to pet it!' Here we go again!
th.gif
He doesn't understand that fish are to look at, not pet!
roll.png

I finally found Duchess. Guess where she was??? In the chickens house with MY DAD'S CHICKENS!!!!!
ep.gif
I about died!!! My poor little hen in there with all those monsters!! And she was filthy dirty!!! I know why too. After I got her out, the red pyle boys started bugging the crud out of her. Poor thing was trying to hide!
hugs.gif

And Gertie thanks you for the eggs! She was squawking even more than ever!!
gig.gif
She is a very good broody, but not very good at momming them. Well, she did real good with the others she had before, but she left them tooo early and didn't even teach them to roost. Poor babies were still going in the nest, wondering where their mama was!

OK, I think that's all the new happenings around here!

Oh and estpr13...I am a VERY responsible person. I have only been drunk once in my entire 33 years. Granted it was for 4 days, and I am not totally clear on what went on, but still, it was only ONCE!!!

I talked him into it, but since I couldn't take him until next week, and Jake and Anita are coming tomorrow, he wanted a haircut now
sad.png

Took me forever - the kid was SO picky about it.

Personally, it isn't the hair cut I would have chosen
lau.gif
, but he is happy with it, it is just what he wanted.
roll.png

I'll have to get some "after" pics to post.

My hair used to be like that when I was young, now it is sorry looking - thin, scraggly like. His is so thick I had to layer it just to make it lay down straight when it is cut shorter. I actually dampened it down and combed it to take the pic - usually it is curlier than that. The brat has naturally curly hair.

ETA - he's been growing it for about three years. When we moved here it wasn't even past his shoulders - it's grown THAT much just in the last year. Must be that healthy country air and sunshine

apparently, all the girls at school thought his hair was lovely - if not a bit weird for down here - all the guys down here seem to have their hair cut very short.

His hair actually looked good if he'd keep it in a pony tail, he has sideburns, so it looked more manly that way - not so girly. But he never wanted to put it in a pony tail unless I made him because I had him working and it kept flopping in his face.

I have a feeling with the new haircut, he might get some stares tomorrow at school
gig.gif

I guess one thing that made him want it cut was the other day one of his friends passed him in the hallway and ran his fingers through sam's hair and said (in a girly voice) "Oh, it's soooo lovely!" and kept right on walking
lau.gif
.

Nothing like your friends to shame you into cutting your hair, eh?

tee hee -

I got it from L&S in Edmonton. But you can get it in Columbia, too. I can't remember the name of the place, but it is that first turn off just out of town (where the old detour for 80 went) it is right after you turn in there on the left - you'll see the bins of sand, soil, etc... just off the road. You can get gravel there, too (the one in Columbia) - the gravel would work, but I'd put down sand, first, with the drainage problem your dad has in the run, then put the gravel on top if you wanted to add that in.

a 1/2 ton at L&S was about 17 dollars. You'll need a pickup truck, or a trailer, they just dump it in with a tractor that has a bucket (loose). you can get more or less, also. I think a ton is only about 23 dollars. I can't remember what a quarter ton cost.

I put a half ton in the run, and it filled it about 5 or 6 inches deep (8x16 run). I'll be putting another half ton in there in the spring, to add for any that washes out this winter in the rain, and to just add to it a bit. I plan of getting some to put in my barn this fall yet, too, because the rain gets in there and turns it into a mudslide.

Let me know if ya need to find L&S - it's easy to find.

ETA - tell your dad I LOVE the sand - it took care of the stink from the wet poopy mud, and it stops the whole slip and slide when ya have to go into the run.
