I think my 7 week old black Silkie is a girlie. She is really mothering the two babies that Shelley gave me...LOL, they are so awkward looking trying to hide under her wings...Head shows out over her back and the tail shows out the other end. As flat as she tries to make herself she just can't completely cover them...It's just too funny.

Poor thing! I had an OEGB crele cockerel that did that with Nugget, though, so I wouldn't bet on it being a girl!! It quite possibly could be, but you never know! I wish I would have taken a pic of that, it was so cute. Nugget was only about 4 weeks old when I got the crele, and she was in a brooder for a week or so at least after I got him. She started flying out of the brooder every time it was opened, so I just left her out. She lost her mama the day she hatched, so she was all alone.

Once I left her out of the brooder, I went to check on her to make sure she didn't get cold. She was sitting on the floor crying, and the crele was on top of the nest (where they used to be). I picked her up and set her next to him. After a few times of doing this, she stayed. I went out later that night to check and see if she was still there, and she had snuggled up under his wing!! She kept doing it until she got too big! So cute!

Ah well, all I have is non bearded. I think I like them better, you can actually see their faces! Not like I need anymore white ones! I need to find me a black roo for the little project I'm cooking up!

I'm sorry!! Just thought I would share! He was the only chicken of mine that would baby any of them, so at least you have one that will! Like Meri's Nana, she does that with all the new babies from what it seems.

Hey if that is where you are then if you decide you want some Blue Silkie chicks or eggs next Spring then we can just meet halfway somewhere. Total, you are about 2 hrs from Somerset. We could meet in Richmond or something. Or even sometime when I take DS out to Winchester to visit with the folks we gave our Lab to. I need to take him, he's been bugging me about it.

Where exactly are you located? I am near Somerset and was wondering how far I would have to travel?

Hey neighbor...So when are we going to meet? We should have lunch some time...Out at that restaurant on the pay lake(never can remember what it's called).
