Hi. My name is Nina and I got mine black and white Silkies from my pet chicken. They are now 9 weeks old They are supposed to be pullets.I this k they guarantee them at 90%. I ordered 15 of them and only 9 survived. However at 2-3 weeks old one of them ended up with a 90 degree crossed beak. I knew that it would have died because it would not have been able to eat enough to keep up with its growth. The other silkies would try to eat from its beak and I had to make the decision to cull it when the other silkies kicked it out of their sleeping circle. They began to pick on it so I had to do something. It was very sad, but I could not watch it suffer. The eight I have left are very healthy. I decided to get some more so this time I ordered 15 more silkies from crackle hatchery. They are due to arrive in the morning. They are blues, buff, and splash. I will probably have to give about half away since I have found out they there is a 50% chance of them ending up to be roos. But I won't be able to tell for several months. I am going to start raising them. But again, its going to be several months before they even start laying. I live in Marshall county, but I work in Todd county. My husband has 22 5 week old variety of Dominiques, new Hampshires , Australopes(sp?), golden comets, and EE. He is also going to start raising them. But again, we are talking months. We are so excited! We are newbies, but we read a lot about raising chicks and so far we must be doing something right because we haven't lost any.

I should have said I ordered 15 and 6 died during shipment. It was during the snow storm we had and freezing conditions in February. I know now to wait till at least April before I order.

I have some Japanese O Shamo chicks available if anyone is looking for some. My birds are from well known breeder Ronnie Profitt.

$5 each..pick up only.

Please call for further details or to make an appointment..

Hello everyone. My little farm is located in Scott county. I am a beginner at raising chickens and decided last year to purchase 6 golden comet pullets from tractor supply. Unfortunately 3 out of the 6 I ended up losing (two my German shepherd got and the other was taken by an owl). My other 3 were wonderful egg producers but I had to give them to a neighbor once I found out I was pregnant. Since the baby has arrived though I have decided to start my flock again. Just can't decide what breeds to go with though. So many choices.

Welcome! I'm in Marshall County as well.

Wish I'd known about you wanting to order straight run Silkies. There's a lady out by the dam that has some pretty nice ones...nicer looking ones than you'd get at a hatchery (though I'm not sure what she has at this time).

I would love to see her Silkies. How may I get in touch with her? If I had known before I ordered, I would have definitely contacted her. I'm sure she doesn't live too far from where I live. I am wanting some more Silkies in the near future. Hopefully she won't mind giving me her contact information.
