Kentucky people

I am definately into chicken swappin'. WHat other standard breeds do you have? Those do have some wild hair. Does one of them have muffs? Do you think he might have crossed a SL polish in them? I let my chickens roam when I get home from work so I like mine to like freedom.

P.S. Do you know anyone who is looking for pigeons? I have many for trade or free. They are good stock I just have too many.

I once gave my niece a snake for Christmas - her dad wasn't pleased, LOL but my sister was thrilled,

She was beautiful - an orange cream rat snake - my sister still has her, the daughter left her when she went to college.

LOL My roo, George, poor guy, I sat and laughed at him tonight. His hens have a mind of their own, and he would herd one to the coop, then leave to go get another, and the first one would leave the coop again. He was getting rather frustrated. I just turned on the light inside the coop and figured they'd all be in before it got fully dark.

She'd like Blue - he's pretty sweet, even tempered roo. He is white with black on him. He's an Easter Egger, has muffs.

Attila is a bit more agressive, she probably would love how he looks (he is grogeous) but he can be a bit intimidating sometimes.

And then there is Flava Flav - no one wants him, he's ugly, LOL. He is a good roo though. He had a hen or two, took very good care of them. We have figured out that he must be some mix of sebright and game bantam - he's about medium size, has the henny gene, so is not "rooster" looking.

Pass the word if ya know anyone who wants them

I might have to see some pics of said roos...might be able to convince the little lady somehow... I guess the crowing is the part that really irritates her, I love all the farm sounds though. I'm really wanting Bobwhites out in the field though, that call is awesome.

I do think they are crossed with polish - that "hair-do" just looks too wild to be pure bred spitz. He swore they were pure, so maybe the person who sold to him told him he was selling him pure - and these are his babies hatched out. (that was a realy confusing sentence, hope ya understood me, LOL I had to read it twice, myself, LOL). And yeah, one does have muffs - I asked him about that at the time, about half of his had muffs. They were so cute, though, I had to buy them anyway, LOL, mutts or not.

I have an Old English Game Rooster, and his hens are - a black leghorn, a red sex link (I think), a New Hampshire Red, two Black Australorps, and an Easter Egger. Oh, and I have two half banty hens, one I hatched out, she is a pullet, still, (george's baby), and her mom who is orangish, but pretty orange, not common type - more pale orange/golden.

I also have Miss Celie, but she has sworn off roosters, so her eggs won't be fertile ever again, LOL. Miss Celie is a dominique type hen - no idea what breed she is, but she looks barred.

I have (banties -) Old English Game Bantams : bb red, birchen, spangled roo, and red pyle; Seramas, Japs (black tailed white), and Cochins.

I also have guineas - who I am ready to pack off to Mars!! They are driving me nuts, lately. They don't like three of my hens, so they thump them and try to keep them out of the hen house at night. I have to go chase the guineas out of the coop so those three hens can go in.

Anyhow

Ok, one last quick post, then, LOL....

Flava Flav - (my kid named him, LOL)

Attila - he loves to crow - a lot, but he is the prettiest of the three, IMO.

Blue - doesn't crow as much as Attila or Flav, but has crowed before - maybe if he got his own hens and got away from the other two he would find his manliness. He's a sweetie, though, loves to come to the porch for treats.

They are all pretty good roos, well, Attila can be a dick, sometimes, but he is usually really good - he just hates to be cooped up, the problems I have with him are when he is inside and can't go out. If he is out freeranging, he is fine, and almost as sweet as Blue is, then.

I would have to say, for the backyard flock, Blue is the best roo to choose. Flav, well, he is rather wild, he freeranged 24/7/365 for the last year - took me awhile to catch him to coop him up so I can determine his fate. Flav is great with the hens, just doesn't care for the company of people much - he's not agressive towards humans, just avoids them like the plague.

Attila tried to flog me once - I kicked him into the wall, he hasn't tried since. Attila is a BIG boy - tall, meaty, would be good with roast potatoes.... no, I didn't say that, did I?

I'm not a very good salesman, am I? tee hee -

Nah, that's the biggest part of sales, knowing your product. The rest is pretty easy. Definitely don't want any flogging roosters around here, the cat likes to go visit the chickens when we go out there and I'd hate to see anything happen to the little guy.

Ugh!! My stupid German Shephard pup, Baby, got loose again this morning!! I just last night put my two newly hatched hens in a tractor that we just made, and the stupid pup went right for it!! She tipped the dang thing over!! One hen has week old chicks, and she high-tailed it outta there. The other has been hatching for the last 2 days, and still had some eggs. Her nest is too high for her chicks to get out, so she stayed on the nest. Thank God Baby's chain was stuck on the side of the pen, or she would have probably killed the hen and the chicks!! I don't know what I'm going to do with that stupid dog!! Any ideas on how to keep her tied up? She pulls anything out of the ground that we tie her to.

My cat is old (17 years old) and she got pecked on the nose, once a long time ago by a dove I had in the house in flight cage. She sees my chickens, and she cringes, then walks the other way, as quickly as she can.

I had finches, and she always sat by their cage and intimidated them (when I didn't notice and shoo her off) --then I got the pair of doves - and she tried it with them. The female dove walked right over to the side of the cage and pecked her nose through the wire

She never forgot the lesson, tee hee.
