Yep, one year my dad decided to be "smart" and got two bottle babies - they both got scours and died on us. I won't do bottle babies.
I do have your phone # I was cleaning out my inbox today, but I saved it. Plan on Friday unless something comes up - I already told hubby I am coming to your house that day, so he'll have to take Jon to work
He mumbled an ok - I'll hold him to it, LOL (he was distracted at the time, LOL I'll remind him before then.)
I am hoping that I might find another few cochins at the auction, I doubt it, but anything can happen,
When I got James and the girls there was another pair of bantam cochins there, I imagine they sold at auction, though - I think they were some type of mottled colors (do they have crele cochins?). Just a roo and one hen, but hey, I'll take most anything in cochins right now (as long as they aint butt ugly or hard feathered, LOL).
If hubby hadn't been there.....
Talk to ya tomorrow
Peace -
Meri
I don't know about cochins, but there were some beautiful mille fluers there week before last. I almost got them, but I don't have any breeder pens yet for pure breeds. My BTW and silkies are still babies, so they have no problems right now. I will need seperate pens this spring though. I need to do something for my ducks as well. Dad said something about them being all mixed up, but he has NO IDEA what I have planned for his pond!!
I know they have partridge cochins, that are kind of mottled, and i think they have some that are the colors of mille fluers, tho not sure about that.
We noticed a hen missing today, two actually. We hope they have hidden somewhere, and are setting. One is one of Dad's games, and she always hides her nests. The other is a
young cochin mix, that should be laying, but we haven't seen any eggs, so she must be hiding hers as well.
My hen that the stupid dog let out went under dad's chicken house for the night. I tried to get her back in the cage, but no luck. I just hope Princess is on the lookout, and nothing gets her or her chicks.
Oh, btw, if you like beagles, you can come and drool over my dad's!! He has 3 females, and I have one female. Mine is only about 2-3 months old. I'm not sure, someone gave her to Cristian. He had a male, but his stupid pit bull broke his chain about a month ago, and killed the beagle. Stupid dog. I love pit bulls, but I would not have one that was aggressive. I had to take Baby to the vet over that stupid dog when she was smaller. She had been playing with him, and I guess he got tired of her, and bit the top of her head. It got infected, and she had to be on antibiotics and pain killers for a week. Of course dad didn't even offer to pay for any of it, even though it was his dog that did it. I won't ket Cristian around that dog anymore.
Maybe when Midget (my beagle) gets older (like a year from now at least), we could hook her up with your male, that is if he's not fixed
Hope to see you Friday. And I promise I won't let you buy much
