I picture the Budweiser Clidesdales commercial and instead of horses tusseling over a pigskin in the snow... I can see your hens with frosty breath comming from flared nostrils. Beaks agape with beady eyes gazing intently from lowered heads. The mouse unable to stand the pressure snaps... and the near free-for-all begins with snow being kicked up as all the hens scramble for the prize. Head pecking, twirls, head fakes, wings in the face, breast blocks, trips; it seems like nothing is out of bounds till the crow of the ref roo to indicate a time out. Someone has committed a fowl. The offending party, with feather still in her beak is sent to the sidelines. Her muffeled cackle was ment to indicate that it was an accident but the offended hen doesn't buy it. as she tail wags and smooths out the remaining feathers.
Fade out to meri picking up an egg from the nest. Yes the good life.
everything but the snow - it was mud - and lots of it.
Well, I'm back from Cindy's and finally got everyone settled for the night. BC is in George's coop, and she was doing great - until everyone else came in for the night and she freaked
poor girl ran over and tried to climb my leg to come into the house with me. She'll be fine, Cinn was already making friends with her before everyone came back, and George is a nice roo - only ones she'll have to tussle with at all will be Shug and Miss Celie. They won't press it too hard, just let her know who is top chicken
.
The ducks immediately began to argue over who was top drake, and the poor splash pair got chased a bit - tomorrow I'll let them out to play and maybe it'll be easier on them all. I have the big water bin all set up outside top of the hill for them when they come outside tomorrow. I put a step up to it, will I need a step getting out too? It's a bushel sized rubber water/feeder. Wider than tall, but tall for them, since they are so small. I'll just watch them and see if they can get out ok. I got boards I can use temporarily for them to climb in and out til I can get a brick or something for them.
Well, I'm tired, and I got to go transfer some money out of my kid's bank account that he owes me.
Do kids ever stop costing us money??? This one is moved out, and he is still costing me money now and then
.
see ya all later -
