I got her millie pair (I'm a sucker for millies

) and her black silkie pullet and the blue splash dutch pullet I gave to her a few months ago. Everyone is in the recently vacated jap cage for now, until I get things straightened out. She offered me the jap pair, but after Cris got attacked by both the jap and dutch roos (and threatened by Raoul) I think that would probably not be a good idea! Plus I have no more room at the moment to have another breeder pair. I might later on, if the offer still stands. I'm thinking of getting rid of some rabbits, so that will free up 3 cages!

I've gotsome that I need to sell, but I'm not sure if I'll take them this Friday or not. I also have some barred rocks, a pair of 2 month-olds, and some BR/cochin crosses that are also 2 months old. I'm not quite sure yet if I want to keep them or not. Probably not, but you never know! I'm trying to hold onto as many as I can till that sale in Liberty, since they sell better there. I just don't know if I can afford it or not. I also have a pair of chickens that I want to sell, but it's not a 'have to' thing. I won't sell them for less than what I paid for them, so if they sell fine, and if they don't, that's fine too.

The sale in Liberty is in April from what I have heard. I don't remember exactly where it was, I think it was on 127, but I'm not sure. It's that big consignment auction that the Amish do twice a year.

The pure BR I have is one cockerel and one pullet, and the BR/cochin mixes are one cockerel and 2 pullets. Which one are you?

ETA: I'll make sure to post about that sale when I find out when it is. It was HUGE last fall! It took over 9 hours just to get through the poultry part, and that was with 2 auction blocks going!

And leave me with just the roos? Aw, come on!

Let me think about it, and I'll get back to you!

And dang it man!!! Which one are you? The big kid that was here, or the little one?

I'm thinking the big one, and that makes you Jordan? I think! Jeez, it's like pulling teeth!

Wow.

I had to seperate that australorp mixed chick from the other two - because the two boys were having a throw down - a very serious one!! The australorp drew blood on the welsummer before I figured out how serious they were. He got him over his eye and on his comb. The welsummer didn't back down a bit, though. They were gonna fight to the death, it seemed.

I have never seen chicks that young so seriously fight as to injure each other like that. Well, the australorp didn't get injured, but it wasn't for lack of trying.

The two welsummers get along pretty well, it was the australorp chick who kept starting stuff. So I have him in his own little cage for now.
He doesn't seem upset for being alone, just ticked that he can't get back into the fight.

Now, australorps are usually pretty easy going chickens, I am wondering what Welsummers are like. The chicks are mixed with welsummer roo on either black australorp hen or easter egger hen. The one little cockerel is easter egger mix, the other is australorp mix.

Until now they've done the usual chick fighting - nothing serious, but even with me and Bruce trying to keep them apart in the playpen they weren't giving up on this fight.

The welsummer cockerel seems to be ok, only a little blood, but his eye rim is red and bloody and he has two spots on his comb that are red and a little bloody.

I am trying to remember how old they are - not more than a month, and probably closer to three weeks old. They don't even have all of their feathers yet!!

nasty tempered little buggars!!

Wow, sounds like fun

I am so totally worn out it is not even funny! My poor ameracauna and lakenvelder chicks are looking pretty lost without Cream and Peaches in there to keep them company! Poor babies!

But they should have some more buddies in a few days!

I just candled my millie eggs, and all 12 are still alive!!
celebrate.gif
I should be setting them in the hatcher tonight, but I have to let it stabilize first. So looks like I'll be up a while trying to get it set.

I should have gotten one of those brooder bins from Cindy! I don't think the 12 millies will fit in that fish tank with the other two!

So Cindy still has the 3 bantam cochins, 2 BTB Japs, 1 BTW Jap, 2 Porcelain Dutch, Anacona, Buckeye, and a Standard White Cochin?

I'm going to be getting the Buff Silkies from Briarpatch this week, guess I'll have to breed my own that way, as my luck with hatching eggs is non-existent!

I have tried silkies once so far, and I didn't have any hatch either. I have some in the bator right now, and if I don't get any of those to hatch, I think i'll find me a show to visit and just buy some good ones! I am wanting buffs as well.

I know that one of the cochins at least is going to her friend, as well as a lot of other ones.

The ones I know that she has for sale are some salmon favorelles (think they are pullets), the BTW jap pullet, the jizzles (I think), black japs, blue dutch cockerel, and I'm not sure what else in the coop. In the brooder she has some wellsummer/EE mixes, and some black rosecomb bantams. You would have to contact her to be sure. I know she has a pair of buff cochin bantams, but not sure what she is doing with them.

All the big girls are going to her friend with their BR Boyfriend, as are the btb japs, btb dutch, porcelain dutch, black dutch, partridge silkie, and the black cochin. Other than that, I don't know.

Oh, and there is also a bantam NN and a bantam leghorn that are available as well, as far as I know.

I'll bet you have your work cut out for you! I heard something on the news last night about the storm debris being removed for free, but I didn't pay attention to it, since it didn't apply to me. Is it cold enough this morning? BRRRR! I am going to take my car to the mechanic today, I hope. Let's

that it doesn't cost an arm and leg!
