Yes, but... They are commercial birds and you will most likely not be able to get any because they would have spent big bucks selectively breeding these birds for this purpose.

You see if you test 1,000 birds for cholesterol in their eggs and select the lowest 10 and then breed them for 4 to 7 generations, and each time selecting the lowest 10 or so in cholesterol; you eventually get a bird with lower cholesterol in their eggs. But then you spend about $25 on testing each egg, several eggs from each chicken, with different formulas of feed; over generations... Then your lower cholesterol egg has cost you in the millions to create.

And who knows, the next generation may be a throw back to high cholesterol so you would have to test each hen.

I don't know if this is what happened but I would think something like this was in the works. I would hope they didn't just use a smaller egg or a breed already existing which already has lower cholesterol.

If you have a couple extra millions laying around I think I could come up with one in a couple of years.

No guarentees of course.

They will come!! I had mine hatch on day 19 and 21, so they can be early or on time! What have you been keeping your temps at? And what is your humidity on?

When did you candle them last? What did you see?

Don't open it till day 22 or 23 in case they are 'late'.

You might want to try and get the humidity up a bit more. Drop a warm wet paper towel in there, you'll be surprised how fast it goes up!!

Chin up!! They'll come!!

I totally understand. These are my second set. I lost the first ones to hawks who learned to pull them under the tractor near the wheels before I figured out what was happening. The chicken tractor no longer has wheels. I then lost the last three free ranging. Hawks really go for the smaller birds first.

I have been keeping them inside this whole winter. Well most of the last two months. Ever since a hawk hit Port and tore a bunch of feathers out of her. She was just a little too big for the hawk. But Port has since started to molt and has stopped laying. Her sister Star is still laying but not as often. She may be starting to molt as well.

I put a NH roo in with the girls. I have 3 NH hens. The girls have been laying since about New Years and their eggs are consistantly medium size or larger. (Just eyeballing them) The roo is still young and probably doesn't know what to do yet, other than crow. There is now a crowing contest with the NH roo and two of the Jersey roos.

Star and Port don't want anything to do with him. The three NH girls are mildly interested. The Jersey girls were more interested in the penned up Jersey roos. Interesting...

I found most of the girls dust bathing today in the deep litter. It's that dusty. They were having a good time.

One of the young jersey roos was picking on some of the New Years chicks and I threw him in with the hens a few days ago. He is almost their size but still way too young. Today I found him in one of the Jersey roo's pen. Seems he squeezed under the fence to get away from the girls. They seem to be okay with the arrangement with the old roo being really laid back. So I left them together. Solves that problem. He was really stiring up problems with all the young ones. Things were a lot better today. I really want to keep him as he seems to be a faster growing Jersey.

I think I will not be eating many of my meat chickens. They are just too affectionate. Two of the three really mean looking roos are really laid back and will come up and let me handle them. The girls are really attractive and not that big. I'll have to see how they lay.
If they don't pay the rent then in the pot. Kind of like Mojo's comic.

Well, I'm rambling again. Comes with old age I guess.

Personally I love bantam anything just about!! Except NN, those just ain't right!! And I totally understand about eating your birds!! I am okay with selling them for someone else to eat, I just don't think I can eat something that I have hatched and raised!!

Yeah, These girls and boys have personalities, where as the Cornish X's I raised didn't and were easy to process. I need to get some pictures.

My new work schedule has really messed with my circadian rhythm. I cannot seem to be totally awake or sleep for more than a few hours.

Does your schedule change on a regular basis? I would hate that!! My sis has a job where she works 4 months from 6 am to 6 pm, then 4 months from 6 pm to 6 am. There would be no way I could do that!!! Do you keep your windows covered? Like totally blacked out? That might help?

I just love my chickens to death!! There is one little dutch cockerel I have that has stolen my heart! I had planned on keeping him anyway, but his antics are winning me over big time!! And the reason is that he is aggressive!!

But he is like 5" tall, and he chases my son around the yard!! It is sooooo funny!! He doesn't even really chase him. Cristian will take off running around and not see the cockerel. Then the cockerel will start the chase, at least a safe distance of 20 feet, with his wings pulled down and running sideways!!

I'll have Cris chase the roo for a while, and then the little guy will leave him alone for a week or so. But it is hilarious!! I wish I had a video camera!

My work schedule use to be 7-12 hour nights on then 7 days off. Now it is 7-10 hour nights and the following Wednesday day for 10 hours. This switching from nite to day has me totally messed up. I cannot get into a rhythm consistant for my chickens.
