No, I have so many different types of fowl that I have been giving them flock raiser. Now I give them 16% calf grower. It is cheaper, and has a lot of vitamins and such in it. I do give them egg shells and oyster shell for the calcium though.

well, he wasn't free, so that wouldn't work.

I need to get pics still, it has been raining and icky for two days, so I figured to wait til it is nicer out and he is dry.

Shelley got to see him today, though, when she came out for the brooders.

I was checking the nutritional info on that bag and on what is needed for ducks, and I think with a few nutritional additions I can feed just the 16% to the ducks, too. It would certainly cut down on feed costs, plus, the ducks love it already anyway, I've been mixing it with the flock raiser, and they eat it up.

I've still got one bag of that M&W stuff to use up, so I need to mix that with the flockraiser one last time, then I can go with the straight Day & Day 16% .

I figure if I add in some cabbage a couple times a week, and scratch a coupel times a week, plus extra fruit and fridge leftovers, they ought to be healthy enough. (the ducks, I mean)

My ducks acted like it was poison when I first gave it to them! But they seem to like it, and they are full time free-rangers, so they should be able to get what they need from the land. They have started coming in the yard, I guess the grass is greener on the other side!

he was pretty cheap, though, for a 3 year old spotted jack, tame and trained to pull a cart - I only paid $150 for him.

I've been wanting a spotted mini jack to breed with Butters, Mama and Mama's baby (who I hope will be a girl)
Most spotted jacks start at around $250 and go up from there.

The call ducks eat it like it is manna from heaven

The baby ducks will eat anything if it doesn't move out of their way fast enough, so they don't care what it is.

The call ducks have been ranging all over our yard, too - I keep having to chase them out front from the backyard, I don't want them going over to the cow pasture and forgetting how to get back

eta I can't wait to get the pen built!!

I'm still getting the flock raiser for my baby ducks. I also feed it to the quail, and the baby chicks, so I still have to get it. But the big ducks and the chickens are all getting the 16%. The chickens aren't too happy about it, but they'll get over it! They miss their flock raiser!
