Welcome from another transplant from Michigan (Grand Rapids)!!!
We moved August of 07.

I lived in the city, though, so we started from scratch down here. We have 25 acres down in Adair County (Breeding/Columbia).

Good luck on the hatch

There's a whole flock of those out near me and for some reason they like to hang out in the middle of the road, I sure hope those aren't them!

Nope not mine they are confined to the pasture behind an el. fencing.

VERY lucky. I left a lot of family up there (including my oldest son) but they all want out - it's just a matter of not being able to sell their houses for more than 10,000 or less.

Have the gang shootiings decreased over the winter? or are they getting "fired up" again now that it is going to be warmer out?

Before long ya won't have to - the power companies will all have moved out of state, too.

and yes, it is bad.

Not just the economy, but the gangs, (In Grand Rapids, they got so bad we had shootings at least once a week two summers ago), the govt. it's just bad.

I could never have afforded to retire if I had stayed in Michigan.

eta example of economy (taxes)....
My taxes on my 25 acre farm are $117. a year - taxes on a city lot less than 1/2 acre - $950. a year.
What did I get for my tax dollars? Schools that are so broke the State was discussing coming in to take over - Gang activity so bad I was afraid to let my teenage boys walk the streets sometimes - and being treated rudely everywhere you go.

I seriously don't miss Michigan at all.

That explains why there seem to be so many angry people coming down from there! Meri is definitely the exception to the rule, but I'm always cautious when I see an MI plate out on the highway, It's truly shocking. I've been watching the convention center drama unfolding up there, it's really sad.
