I have another broody!!

Gretta the game hen has decided to start a family again

She has two of her own eggs, one from today, and one from yesterday, one Nugget (oegb) egg, and 6 white silkie eggs!!

That is definitely an interesting mix!

Well, when I went out there today to take them some salad, Tillie, one of my OEGB banties was setting on the three eggs I left in the nest box. But she got off the eggs when I threw the salad in for them. Haven't gone to check on them tonight though. Will check on them in the morning.

My Kroger's had bags of salads reduced today so I picked up some to give to the girls. Talk about piggies, they scarfed two small bags of mixed greens down like they were starving.

That's why I don't have any money for myself, I spend it all on Bird Seed, Dog Food, Pigeon Feed, Grower Rations, Scratch Grains, Layer Pellets, Dove Feed, Fish Food, Dog treats, Salad for the chickens, grit for all of them.

I actually found myself looking at bags of spinach today at Walmart to see how much it would cost me to buy some for the ducks.

I didn't buy any, but I may plant some for them this spring.

Well, I ordered my 110 chicks - same price as yours, she must have quoted me wrong the other day - 45.99

I asked (out of curiosity) what if I ordered 150 (which would actually be 165) she said 59.30 --- so if these sell well, I'll order more next time around. Shoot, I meant to ask how long they were offering this for (all summer, or all year or whatnot) and I forgot to ask.

Mine are scheduled for March 17th. which means I'll also have the chicks from Day & Day at that time (march 16th) so I'm gonna be busy, and will have to keep them apart

. Well, just the brahmas, actually. The cornish cross I am getting from Day & Day can be mixed in somewhat with the heavy mix.
I wish she could have been more specific on what they offer (not asking what I'll get, just what they "might" be). Oh well, I'll figure it out when they get here.

I'll just stick all the red chicks into one bin (definately going bye bye) and the rest I'll sort through to find what I want to keep.

I'll probably just keep all of the cornish cross - I may as well raise those for the freezer.
I'll see if I have any barred rock girls, and keep a few of those, too.
Not a bad deal - keep some sell some, eat some - and all for cheap.

Our Govt. needs to learn to shop this way, eh BlueDog?

eta - wouldn't it be just nifty if I got some dark cornish in there? I'd definately have to save those to breed.

Hi, new here just found out about this thread. We are in Hart County, transplants from MI as of Sept 08. We brought 30 RIR with us, 25 hens and 5 roos. All came down in the back of a pick up

what a ride! We have lost 3 hens

and sold 1 roo, so down to 26 total now. I put 29 eggs in our bator 3 days ago (our first try at this) will see what happens
