Jon's the same way with writing, Cindy. He can't write to save his life - can't spell, if he does write you can barely read it. They finally gave him a word processor to take from class to class so he could do his assignments on that at school (spell check, and it's typed so his bad handwriting doesn't matter). He can read better now, but he went into 4th grade not being able to read - and I had to fight to get him tested, can you believe that??? He wasn't a behavior problem, though, just dyslexic, so they didn't care if he couldn't read.
Now he can read very well, I got him a tutor for a few years, and it helped a lot. But, he still doesn't sign his name in cursive - he never learned cursive, just couldn't grasp it.
The main problem with dyslexic kids is they are usually above average intelligence, and that just adds to the problem.
My hyper kid was Sam - he is better now, but he still has his moments. Like I told you the other day - Thank God he learned to type, LOL (so he didn't talk constantly).
Peace -
Meri
