Hey...those came from us...funny, small world. Hope you enjoy them.

It IS a small world. I looked up your website last night after we got everyone settled. Those are some really beautiful RLBWs you have. It was nice to meet you, even though I didn't actually know I was meeting you at the time.

The chickens are doing fine and we really are enjoying them.

It depends on the type of chickens you get. If you want heavy layer hens, then I'd say put it no more than 3 or 4 foot off the floor (my brahma girls don't tend to fly up much higher than that). Banties will fly higher - they'll probably roost in the rafters

My coops all have at least a 6 foot high roof, or higher, so I tend to put the perch up where A) I won't trip over it or B) I won't bang my head or face on it.

If your coop is VERY small, then you probably won't be inside it much, but do plan for cleaning - it is harder to clean under a 4 inch perch than a taller one. I would go at least a foot - so you can fit a broom or a flat shovel under it. (I use our old snow shovel, don't get much snow here).

I have a pen with Golden Comets, Black Stars and Red Stars..they will be laying in about 3-4 weeks. $10.00 each if you are interested in those also. These are extremely productive layers.
I have over 60 of them available.

Spyder - you're in Edmonton, right? I have a friend who's been wanting some pol pullets. The Golden Comets were some that he mentioned for me to keep an eye out for at first, then last week he said he wanted dual purpose (are Golden Comets dual purpose hybrids or egg laying hybrids?).

He had said he wanted young hens or pol pullets, then he wanted dual purpose like I have. I think he'd be happier with the dual purpose - for what he wants - but I'll let him know you have those and get back to you.

They are egg layers without a doubt. ..egg laying fools. While they are not considered dual purpose because they are not a large breed..they would undoubtedly still taste like a chicken..lol.
I have had some of these in the past and they totally skip the pullet egg stage and go immediately into a very large brown egg at a very young age.

Yes..I am in Edmonton Kentucky.

I won Reserve AOSB with my Sumatra pullet, BV Black Cochins, BB D`Uccle with a white, RB with a Millie.....there were some real NICE Millies there....was surprised with my win!!, BB Dutch, BB Favorelles, BBBooted Bantams, and placed with others real wel...I was very pleased. I hop[ed for several D`Uccles to be shown as we had a meet there and was surprised with about 18 birds (I think), and had competition in the Sumatra meet as well.......there was a beautiful Brown Red Sumatra pullet in the AOCCL class , first time I have seen this variety in person and it was gorgeous!! Now I want some!!!!!!!!!! LOL. It was fun, now I look forward to the Shelbyville show in May...should be fun too!! Jane

Good morning y'all...wet and muddy here today. Duck weather...lol I picked up the welsumer's and SLW's yesterday...They are sooooo cute...will post pic's later. I have GLW's and BLRW on the way...I think I will get into the wyandotte's for awhile. I am still looking for some white silkie's if y'all know anyone close by me that has any...Peace

Well, power cut out for just long enough to make my clocks flash this morning, so the phone rings, waking me up.... It's some guy and his wife (can't recall their names) I had met at Day & Day and they are coming over after some chickies
big_smile.png

I have to call the PO today, my Brahma's shipped this morning. Cackle called ME yesterday, my Dellies "are for sure being shipped May 4th"
roll.png
I told her this has to be the last put back, cause it's been three times, now - they were due to ship April 29th, though, so May 4 isn't that bad.

I have the phone number of a local couple who raise Dellies, so if I get put off any more by Cackle, I'm requesting a refund and just buying from them. Nice couple, we parked next to them Friday, and I went to see what all they had - TONS of dellie babies
big_smile.png
ages from day olds up to what looked like a month old and reasonably priced, too (about the same as my prices on them). I spent most of the time standing and chatting with her (since I had sold almost everything within 15 minutes of arriving,
lau.gif
).

So, I'm trying to wake up before this guy gets here at noon. We talked at Day & Day a bit, so I know what types of chickies he wants. I have a variety
lau.gif
hopefully we can tell male from female for him a little bit. I know on my own hatched ones I can really easy, the australorps and orps and partridge rocks I have a little harder time with.

Oh, I hatched the most beautiful baby!!! I want to keep her
wink.png
She is about a month old now, and her patterning is almost perfect. She has slight leg feathering, but not enough to say so. Her "collar" is dark and very distinct pattern and very pretty - just the tips of her wings are black, and her tail is just the tip black. I'll have to get a pic of her. I have another similar to her, but her collar isn't as distinct.

So, tomorrow or the next day I should have my Brahma babies in the mail. Can't wait... now I just need to re-arrange inside again to have a place for them
lau.gif
Maybe my two week olds can go out to the coop - they should be big enough as long as everyone doesn't pick on them.

Hey!

I have two ducks to give away if picked up locally or I might be willing to meet if someone has older chicks to trade.
'
They are approx. 6 weeks. One is a Pekin, one is a Mallard. I think both are males, but this is my first duck experience and I could be wrong. I love the little buggers but because of some circumstances I think it'd be better to wait until next Spring to get into Ducks. Please pm me if you're interested. I'm in Pikeville, Ky.

Okey dokey

I'm back.

Well, the guy (I think he said Mike) and his wife (can't recall her name - I am HORRID with names) took four babies

I tried to talk him into Benny and Joon, but they ain't set up for geese yet

My broody in the cage has hatched out two babies, I doubt any more of her eggs will hatch, so I'll have a cage to take them to Sano this friday.

Did anyone see Friday is gonna be 80 degrees and saturday is gonna be 85 degrees??? woohoo!!! Summer

They (the couple who got the chickies) said they are on BYC, but they obviously haven't made it to our thread yet... I told them we have a lot of local folks on here (edmonton, greensburg, columbia, etc...)

Oh, and I explained to hubby how purely gorgeous I think that one baby girl is, and he said to just keep her if I want
big_smile.png
I hate to do that, because I'd keep them all if I could
lau.gif
but she really is pretty. I'll leave her with the babies, though, until she's a bit older. I'm not sure if Fluffy and Gump would let her into their little twosome party or not, and I'd hate for her to be alone. BC seems to have hooked up a bit with George and his girls, I think she is just getting to be older, now, and figures the Roo is the one to hang out with.

Man!! I just set my ashtray on fire, stinky
sickbyc.gif
time to empty it, I guess
lau.gif

I need to start saving some of Mr. Speckles' coops eggs again, I have a half empty bator (for shame!!). I also need to put the other racks back into the duck bator, so I can put more eggs into there (even if it's chicken eggs).

I can't wait to try the carton hatching on the duck eggs - supposedly it makes for a better hatch (and I need better hatches on my ducks - one per batch isn't cutting it).

well, I think that's all for now, gonna cruise a bit.
