My friend Roger is coming over this morning so I'll give him your telephone number when he gets here. I can't recall why he is coming over

I think he and hubby are going to look at Fuel Tanks (farm ones, for pumping your own fuel) - sounds like fun.... Not. Glad I don't have to go along

Thanks Meri...I still have over 60 Production Hybid pullets, True Aracaunas, Americaunas, Silkie Hens, and Silkie Chicks for sale.

I'd be happy to sell him some of my dual purpose, but he wants something that will lay sooner than mine will be laying. I think the oldest "for sale" birds I have right now are only about 8 weeks old. Unless he wants three older hens (and he doesn't want that crowing hen any more than I do

).

I looked for pullets for him at Sano, but all the ones they had were either too high priced for what they were, or they were RIR (he doesn't like red chickens, either

)

He loves my brahmas, but I don't have enough of those to share (in the older category). I think Shelley said her dad wants to buy some of my extra babies I just got. He has seen the light!!

(his red chickens went psychotic on him, too, he wants to get rid of them). I am hoping by next spring I'll have nice dual purpose pure bred pol pullets for sale - but it's gonna take me that long to get my breeding pens going well. (I just finally got them mostly done - well, done enough to seperate the breeds).

funny thing... I was reading up on turkeys last night (our local feedstore is getting turkey poults in next month) and hubby comes up behind me and says casually - "I'm thinking that you need to cut back on variety for now... maybe you can branch out into other stuff next year."

lau.gif
poor guy, I think he is tired of building me pens. He's not getting his other projects finished.

you said it!!

Actually, I've run the poor guys life and time for the last two years practically - every time he starts a project, I seem to get more chickens and need a new coop - or I get ducks and need a pen (cause the dogs think they are squeaky toys).

He still has one run to finish for me (I don't need it yet, so I told him it'll wait awhile) plus, his lean-to for the donkeys (roof half finished, got rainy, gave up til spring), the pig pen (almost done, just need to work on the gates) the cow corral (gates, also), the garage (which he has put off, himself, cause it's a BIG job) the back deck, the skirting on the boy's trailer.... hmmm... what else was there....

So, I show Roger my brooder coop (full of babies) and he says to save him some Buff Orp babies cause he'll want them when they get to laying age.

lau.gif
yeah, I'll TRY. Maybe Day & Day will have more buff orp babies on Thursday when the order comes in. I need barred rocks, too - those keep selling out, I wanted to keep some to breed a few.

I gave him your number, he said he'll be calling you, Spydertoys.

Oh, and he informed hubby that I could easily keep two or three turkeys in with my ducks in their pen

looks like I might grab two or three when they come in after all. All that Mt. Healthy (where the feedstore gets chicks) has is Broad Breasted White and Mammoth Bronze - both meat turkeys, so no major flying, so no worries on them getting out. Not sure I would want a turkey that flies, anyway - I don't want them to perch on my truck and car as I've heard they like to do.

eta - Oh yeah, Jr. showed herself today - she is sitting on eggs in the barn again - just hid them better this time from me

Most times the broad breasted turkeys can't breed naturally, so if you were wanting some that you could breed, you'd be better off getting a breed that can fly. Most of them can when they are young, but can't so well once they get big and fat

And dad said he would take some of the chicks you are hatching from your pen as well, he wants like 15 or 20 of them, so he can get rid of all his reds. But he needs to know how much they would cost first.

Let me see what I've got out there, and I'll let ya know.

Have ya gotten ahold of Chuck yet? (I know, I'm being naggy) baby goose is all by herself cause Sloopy is a mean little cuss!!

I had to bring Squishy inside, cause the chicks out there picked his poor wings bloody - so I have the ducks all in a cage inside, and as soon as Spiffy and Squishy calm down and are quiet, Sloopy goes after poor Squish and makes him run and cry. (Sloopy, if you recall, is my littlest duck - she takes after her father
roll.png
he's a mean little cuss, too.)

So I put Lucy Goose into a bin all by herself with a neat little nest and a mirror to keep her company - right now she is snuggled up to the mirror talking to herself

poor baby. (if Lucy turns out to be a boy she'll be Louie
