You think if I have all the feed kept put up every night that it won't try to find a way into the run? It'll be a little while before I can buy a trap. I lock the girls up tight so I'm not worried about the big coop, just that since they have no more meat the food may keep em coming... I checked the pen and so far there are no entry sites into it.

That should at least slow them down - the possum that got Jr's nest got it i the barn - because she is too stubborn to set a nest in the coop where it's safe. Her nest was an easy meal (for the possum and her 11 babies - 11 !)

eta - luckily Jr is too bloody minded to let some old Possum get her

I just ordered the 25 rainbow layers chick assortment from MPC. This is my very first time ordering chicks!! Someone needs to hold my hand, and tell me it will be okay!!

so... hubby has been talking to his friend about cell phones.

I have resisted for so long (had one briefly for a job, I hated it!! made me cringe every time the phone rang - I was manager, and they called for every little thing

).

But, since I don't have a job anymore, it might not be so bad.

I do recall times they would have been handy - like if I'm at the store and forgot what all I needed - or when Shelley was at the Post Office, and I was at Day & Day - I'm sure she would have been thrilled if I had one then

so, I guess next week, maybe we're gonna go look at them.

Things Jake said to look at are "buddy list" things (where you can call anyone on your list for free) and one other thing (hubby knows what it was -- I sort of blanked out when he said the words "cell phone" went into a glazed eyed thing and almost fell into a coma...)

Now I am wondering if I do get one, can I get rid of the land line and still keep my internet through the phoen company, or will I have it switch to hughs.net or something else....

sounds like a lot of trouble and bother, to me..... I gotta stop hubby from talking to Jake.

You can certainly call the phone company and see if they'll do that, or you could get prepaid cell phones. I recall thinking something along the lines of "and Meri doesn't have a freaking cell phone!!" when I was sitting at the post office, so it probably wouldn't be a bad thing

But a prepaid would work, if you only needed it to use while traveling.

I love getting chicks in the mail - it's like Christmas opening that peeping box and seeing what's inside

I absolutely loved opening that box of peeping goslings!! They all popped their itty bitty heads up and looked right at me, just cheaping away!! So sweet! I'd order more goslings just for the awwww factor

hubby wants to lose the landline.

I guess fewer telemarketers would be nice. (but then what would I do with my air horn?

)

he also wants one with a plan so I can have the buddy list thing, because he and Jake get on the phone and four hours later... they're still on the phone.

(couple of gossipy old women, I tell ya....)

plus, I could put just about everyone I know on the buddy list and call them for free

I don't chat with that many people ont he phone, so it wouldn't be so bad.

downside is taking the thing with me and getting calls no matter where I am or what I'm doing.
