Oh yeah,

speaking of omelettes, my girls are gonna have to pick up the pace now that I know they are starting cause Ron is bringing hom some thick slabs of country ham from the Apple Fest in Liberty. Can't wait for eggs n ham...
I got BCs daily egg, a blue medium size egg, and a little smaller than medium size light tan(lighter than BCs eggs) egg. Been saving BCs dailys and these two new layers eggs for Cortni to take back with her. She has 6 eggs to take back.

Cindy - still keeping my fingers crossed for Amy ... keep us updated

Well, I stood in the rain for three hours today at an auction, didn't buy anything, but it was interesting (I was shopping for a gavity wagon - they all went too high price for me).

The sun came out this evening for a bit, so I let the chickens out - they looked so sad and pitiful. They went nuts running all over, they were very happy to be out. I didn't have too much trouble putting them back in, but a couple of the orps didn't want to go in, and BabyMama heard one of "her" babies crying for her in the top coop (I left them in) so she ran to me crying to open the door, and I just scooped her up and put her in the right coop. She wasn't too upset, but she still wanted that baby

I hope my eggs hatch so she can have some babies to play with.

Everything is soup out there, total mess

I hope it dries up a bit next week.

Purdy was very happy to run out into the pasture and scratch poo

X2 she was one of the ones I had a hard time talking into going back into the coop

I'm glad I had them inside today, though, because a hawk was teaching her young hawk kid to hunt - in my yard!! Luckily the ducks and geese saw them and hid (they were some BIG hawks.)

well, gonna go and sit for a bit. I've had a long day.

Well I finally broke down and ordered a laptop desk and cooling pad. My laptop has shut down 4 times in the past hour because it is overheating. I don't know what the deal is, I did just renew my Norton security thing, so idk if that makes it work more? Right now I have it setting on the box with a small fan below it, and it seems to be helping.

Norton is awful for sucking up the power... Shoulda just loaded the AVG program it takes way less power and is just as good if not better. I have Norton right now on my desktop only because it came with the first yr free. After that runs out I will be switching to AVG.

AVG is an antivirus software that you can either get a free version of or buy one with combinations. I use it and it is very good. I have firewall spyware adware resident shield the big package and pay about 62.00 for 2 years. Free updates too.

cold damp morning... I have about 8 chickens on my porch, keeping their feet dry

I like the cool mornings, could do without any more rain for awhile, though. I'd like to dry out my barn so I can put gravel in there next week. And the area by the top run (yep, FINALLY gonna get a load or two of gravel for those spots. Yay!!!) Now would be the time to dig that trench, though, to divert water off the "pond" that forms by the top coop everytime it rains hard. The soil certainly is soft.

The really good thing about the cooler temps is it made the flies land and stay
lau.gif
much easier to kill them when they are too cold to fly.

I need to go through the house and sweep spider webs today - there are an unbelievable amount of spiders this year!! and they all want to live with me in my house
sad.png
I don't mind spiders, but it is getting a bit much, even for me to stand. I went to turn on the lamp by Bruce's chair yesterday and had a spider web under the shade where I have to put my hand to turn it on. That is ridiculous!!

wow. just checked weatherunderground - it says it's about 60 degrees out there. This is more like Sept. in Michigan than Sept. in Kentucky.
It's fantastic for sleeping, though.

Well, the spiders tell me that winter is gonna be harsh this year down here. Sam is happy, he's hoping for snow

I killed my flip flops, and my sandals are about on their last leg, too - so I was gonna get another pair of sandals or flip flops to hold me until winter... maybe I ought to just get a new pair of hiking boots instead.
One thing I don't like so much about the cooler weather is having to wear shoes.

Hmm... maybe some of the clog thingies that are water repellent...

I've noticed that, also, and the nut trees have a LOT of nuts this year, too - both my walnuts and the neighbor's hickory trees are loaded.

Well, I have to get off here for a bit to start my roast in the crock pot and make some breakfast... I'm thinking this type of morning calls for french toast and country ham

be back later.

Has anyone heard when the consignment auction in Casey County (Liberty) is being held? I was expecting a flyer by now, but still haven't gotten one.
I'd heard it was the 2nd weekend in October, anyone know? I'd really hate to miss it!

Mojo Chick'n :

everyone keeps telling me end of October.

I don't know, though, guess I'll ask Julie if she's heard yet.

You're a flock master!!
ep.gif
When did that happen? You should ask them to change it to mistress, unless you like confusing people. Though, I've never met a man named 'Meri'

WOOHOO!!! I got 4, yes FOUR eggs today!!!! As of now other than BC, I had a tan one and a blue one(still don't know who laid those, but suspect the blue to be Liberty or the other EE), Cleo is the light creamy tan egg I saw the other day(caught her in the nest today and then there was another like the first one).
This is soooo exciting!!
