Had to go ahead and take Amy to the vet... She was drooling blood. He is supposed to call in about 15 more minute to let me know what was in the blood test and he put her on IV and is keeping her overnight.

He checked her teeth when we first got there. He said by the odor on her breath it tells him Kidneys but by what I told him about her urine smelling rotten it tells him not kidneys so he's gonna rely on the blood test to give our answers. Other than that, the check up he did on her seemed okay and she isn't running a fever. Heart sounds good, stomache feels fine etc...

Okay gonna try to explain the best I can remember, he talked so fast.
He said the blood test showed all 3 of the areas that show for the kidneys is off the charts... The example he used was something about they should be reading around 15-27 and they were actually reading well above 130 which means her kidneys are almost non functioning. He said usually if a dog comes in with those levels and they are weak and not alert he will suggest putting them down. But being that Amy is still so alert to have those high readings, he has hope that she will take the fluids well enough to get her kidneys functioning and push out all the bacteria and bad stuff that has caused them to go downhill. Pray for her tonight, he said the next day or two will determine her fate.

Cortni is crying, I told her not to cry unless it turns out we have to put her under because the vet has high hopes that she'll recover. She wants me to get her after swim practice tomorrow so she is here in case we have to do the deed.

I wonder what could have caused that? Antifreeze causes kidney failure, doesn't it? Any chance she got into some?

I really, really hope she gets through this, poor Cortni!! Tell her I'm hugging her from here!

By the way, Cris said he was choking that kid because the kid hit another kid when they were outside. Apparently the kid that got hit is Cristian's little buddy. So word to the wise, don't mess with Cristian's buddies!

I have been feeding the dogs Purina One Natural blends, that I bought at Big Lots, for the last month... Am going to take the food to the vet to have it sent off and tested for contamination... This is exactly what happened(same exact symptoms) to all those otherwise healthy dogs and cats two yrs ago that died, when they had the big dogfood recalls.

Oh wow, I hope that's not it! Well, in the case of your wallet, I hope it is, but in the case of Amy, I hope it isn't. I don't remember much good coming from that.

Cindy, I hope everything works out for Amy and she recovers.

Shelley, give Christian an atta boy from me. Even if the teacher didn't approve he did the right thing defending a smaller kid from a bully.

Depending on my schedule I might make the trip out to Shepherdsville this Saturday, mostly looking for cages to haul the critters in when the move comes about. For the moment I don't need anymore animals.

Thanks for the tip Spyder, Hopefully the rain will end before tomorrow morning! I'm so tired of it as I'm sure others are as well.
I need to start draining the outdoor miniponds and bring the goldfish inside for the move and the winter. Also need to get the plants ready for the move. They are calling for overnight lows in the upper 40's low 50's for next week.

I know once I get everything situated after the move and get some pens set up I'll be looking for some geese and some turkeys to raise up, maybe even get some keets to help control the bugs up there.
