We were up there last week....we were the ones chasing 4 kids around in the grey mini van.

I was there..lol! I was the one not selling much of anything..worst day I ever had there.

I think the laying hens were selling ok and the eating roos.....we had some young ones we ended up selling to John for $1 each.
I sold some bad call ducks......

I had 8 big "eating" Roos..no one even looked. They wanted eating hens..go figure!!
Didn't sell any ducks either.
I will be in Tomkinsville this Saturday..and Roller Coaster next weekend. Then back to Shepherdsville.

I don't usually go up there the last weekend of the month..the "end of the month" thing for a lot of people it seems.

The last three days have not been good for our usually very active 9 yo Sheltie, Amy... I am taking her to the vet tomorrow morning first thing if she doesn't get worst before that. She has been throwing up under the bed, she stinks to high heaven, her urine smells rotten and she has absolutely no energy... Barely gets up the steps to the bedroom. She won't eat, but she drinks a little. For a dog that gets all excited over the word "out" no matter what tone or level you use to say it(yeah we test her), breaks out of the door as soon as I open it to go outside, barks at everything she can and can't see to get them out of her property, and herds the cars going down the road, she is doing the total opposite. I have to drag her out, then she'll pee a little and head back in, she won't take a treat and runs from me when I try to put her in front of her food. She feels feverish and has a dry nose and isn't reall steady on her feet. I'm really worried about her, if it ends up something serious it would devistate my 19yo, Amy is actually her dog... Had her since she was 4 wks old, born exactly one month before daughters 10th b-day. We rescued her from a backyard breeder. They gave her to us at an early age cause they didn't want to mess with weaning and housebreaking her... She was housebroke by the time she was 6 wks old.

Considering that he got in trouble for CHOKING a kid the other day, I'd say this is a big improvement!

Cindy - that sucks about Amy, hope it is a simple bladder infection or something easy to fix.

I had a sickie chickie the other night, and I've been looking for alternatives to the expensive Tylan 50 (I have a little left, but not much). So, since someone on BYC mentioned it, and I had it on hand, I injected her with 1cc of LA200 (had it for the calves for the pink eye).

She perked up overnight and seems to be back to normal today.

LA200 is so much cheaper than tylan50!!! (tylan is about 50 bucks for a little bit in a jar, LA200 is more like 10 bucks for a whole jar - same size jar, the la200 is liquid, of course, the tylan is powder.) Another advantage is that if they are not drinking much, the la200 gets into them whether they feel like eating/drinking or not. You know who got how much dosage, and when they got it.

Now, for the calves, you can only give it to them every other day, so I plan to check her tomorrow to see if she needs another shot (sometimes it only takes one shot with the calves.)

I've never given anything that small a shot before, so I was slightly worried, but it went fine.

So, if your chickens get sick, you can give an LF hen or Roo 1cc - for a bantam or smaller chicken, I've been told, give them .5cc .

something else I learned today.... I can see the screen, keyboard and my credit card so much better if I wear my glasses!!! Gonna have to keep them handy more often, I guess.

Being able to see your screen, keyboard, and credit card well, all at the same time, is not necessarily a good thing
