Kentucky people

It is held every Friday night. The actual auction part starts about 6 pm, but there are people set up in the lot as early as 2:30, probably earlier. I almost never send things through the auction, just sell in the parking lot. I also don't buy things from the auction, it's too cramped in there, too many chances for diseased birds for my taste!

Hey I dont know what my wife thinks about trading wheatons for pumpkin/nut/choc chip bread, but I will trade you all her goats for a loaf of that bread. You will be in Shephardsville this Sat. right? Bring your truck...

Well, BabyMama is extremely upset with me tonight. Poor girl, I felt so rotten, she jumped onto my arm and begged and begged to go back to her own coop

I'm such a meany.

I am trying to seperate everyone to their coops, and I didn't want her in the brooder coop right now, because I am using that for "for sale" chickens (Ones I'm gonna get rid of). Plus, I plan to worm everyone as soon as I get them sorted out - but just the ones I'm keeping, not the for sale ones. I don't want to worm them and possibly sell them before the "do not eat" period is up.

She sounded so pititful and she begs so badly. She's one of my favorites, and the friendliest one (none of the others will jump into my arms and chatter at me - thankfully she's a bantam

)

She's really gonna be upset tomorrow when I don't let them out to freerange like usual.

I also had to catch the buff bantam rocks, they weren't too pleased, either, but they aren't as friendly, so they actually need to be cooped for a bit. They have been sleeping in a "duck" house (dog house in the duck run) instead of in the coop. The ducks and geese don't use the doghouses, so they figured they would

I have 6 more to catch and swap to the other coop - Miss Piggy's four babies and another BR mix and a white rock mix (who I actually had swapped, but she snuck out and ran back to the other coop). I'm thinking of putting Oprah in the for sale coop, too. She doesn't lay eggs anymore, so maybe someone will want to eat her. (Obviously she's not one of my favorites - she's always been a bit flighty and weird.)

Poor BabyMama, though - I feel like a rotten chicken mama.

I'm going to have everyone in a "snit" also. I have to move the Orps to my Cochin pen. I have so many of them now that they need the bigger pen. I'm up to 25 Orp hens and 3 Roos. The Cochins won't be a problem, but it will take me a month to get the Orps to go home to the right pen at night. Sometimes I swear they are the dumbest chickens on the planet.

I'll have to lower their nest box and perch poles for the Cochins and raise the ones in the Cochin pen. But it's almost twice the size of the pen they are in now.So..worth the hassle I think.

Check out the cute little mushroom family I found in our yard yesterday... It was so cute I couldn't resist taking a pic of them:

OH YEAH, and that huge blue egg I found the other day was a double yolker... Sorry Meri, I forgot to check if it was fertile... since it may have been from that other girly I got from Spydertoys

For goats and chickens, I guess I'll make a triple batch....

That would be about 6 or 7 loaves... I couldn't let ya'll go w/o soap... You'll need some to clean up with after eating all that bread.... it does get messy with the choco chips in there.... but OOOOHHHH so good.

The last batch I made in cupcake pans and I had 2 doz and they didn't even last a whole week.... The kids would come around with little black smudges on their faces and I knew they'd been sneaking some.....

Got any blue eyed pygmy bucks?? I'd love one of those... If you milk your girls, I'd be happy to take some off your hands to make soap with... All my girls are in the last stages before birthing and I can't milk them.... Trying to keep Ella's twins which are now 7 mths old from nursing is a chore.... The twins are the biggest babies.... We got a rooster last weekend and DS decided to lock him in the chicken coop, well that's where the twins were born and they still go in there at night to sleep and boy were they mad.... They saw me and started screaming at the top of their lungs... I thought they were hurt... well just their feelings I guess...

I have a beautiful goat house but they prefer the chicken coop... the chickens (except the broody hens) prefer the top of the goat house.... go figure that one.... I don't lock anyone up at night since they're fenced in an area around the barn with two GP's guarding....

Speaking of GPs, my male which is 10 mths old is such a barker... He also likes to play with the chickens and ducks and guineas... unfortunately at 120 pounds he ends up killing them.... If you take the horror of seeing an animal killed out of it, it is sweet the way he plays with them.... he takes his big o paw and swats cross wise at them to get them to move then he rolls on the ground waiting on them to play back then pops them on the back which I suspect is when they die... Okay, you ask how do I know this.. Well I was curious what he was doing and I did take the bird away from him when I could see the outcome as not pretty so the bird didn't die...

We now have the male on a tie out inside the barn so he can't go after the animals... We have had a few go into his line area and become play for him and it was interesting that the female GP who's 7 mths old took the dead animal away from the male and didn't touch it where the male was eating the animal and all we found was a few feathers....

So now I have a male GP that's not a really good flock guardian but a sweet lovable bear of a dog who barks almost all the time pissing our neighbors off.... What to do??

I would also love to have a blue eyed billy goat......I know a lady down my way that has some now and then, but they are all related to my main doe.

No one here will drink goats milk so we don't milk them.

very cool mushrooms......

I have a double yolker blue wyandotte egg in the bator now that is developing, but I haven't had any make it to hatch day. Supposed to hatch next week and it is still kicking so maybe we will be lucky this time.
