Mojo Chick'n :
Cindy - that sucks about Amy, hope it is a simple bladder infection or something easy to fix.
I had a sickie chickie the other night, and I've been looking for alternatives to the expensive Tylan 50 (I have a little left, but not much). So, since someone on BYC mentioned it, and I had it on hand, I injected her with 1cc of LA200 (had it for the calves for the pink eye).
She perked up overnight and seems to be back to normal today.
LA200 is so much cheaper than tylan50!!! (tylan is about 50 bucks for a little bit in a jar, LA200 is more like 10 bucks for a whole jar - same size jar, the la200 is liquid, of course, the tylan is powder.) Another advantage is that if they are not drinking much, the la200 gets into them whether they feel like eating/drinking or not. You know who got how much dosage, and when they got it.
Now, for the calves, you can only give it to them every other day, so I plan to check her tomorrow to see if she needs another shot (sometimes it only takes one shot with the calves.)
I've never given anything that small a shot before, so I was slightly worried, but it went fine.
So, if your chickens get sick, you can give an LF hen or Roo 1cc - for a bantam or smaller chicken, I've been told, give them .5cc .
something else I learned today.... I can see the screen, keyboard and my credit card so much better if I wear my glasses!!! Gonna have to keep them handy more often, I guess.

Being able to see your screen, keyboard, and credit card well, all at the same time, is not necessarily a good thing
