Kentucky people

They are calling for scattered Thunderstorms today, tonight, and tomorrow with 100% rain tomorrow. Guess I need to put up some more shelter things today to keep the rain off the rabbits. I have had two does kindle recently and lost all their babies due to the cold and rain. I got them nest boxes and found them filled with water after the most recent rains. Guess I need to drill holes in the bottom of them to be safe and prevent that from happening again.

Judging from the pics I would say that it is a pullet, just comparing the fluffy butt I saw in one of the pics to my own hen.

Shelley, I'm gonna have to postpone the trip south until another day. I have to put the van into the shop for a brake job and engine work. My check engine light came on the other day and won't go off. I can't do that until I get my refund from school which should be next week sometime. So I have to baby the van until I can get it fixed.

Did anybody catch the news article on the guy they busted here in Kentucky about the animals he had in his garage, seems they found over 300 chickens, rabbits and other poultry. Seems he goes around to various stockyards and buys and sells them at them. They found dead animals in the cages and had to euthanize several others due to illness and disease. They still have some rabbits to find homes for, but all the poultry have been placed.

Wheres all the wonderful Kentuckians. Has the roos not woke you up yet???
Hope everyone has a wonderful morning it looks like i'll be working on the farm and helping Shellyd2008 work on building a chicken coop.

love her name too.

Uncle T's Bantam's and Mojo Chick'n - Congratulations on your hatch-lings

major bummer - one of my orp eggs shrink wrapped during the night.
(well, at least one, no action on any of the other eggs, have not checked too closely yet to see what damage there is.)

it figures that the eggs that I want get shrink wrapped and the mutts hatch out just fine

Oh well, cute babies are cute babies, and I'm glad the ones that hatched are doign well. a lot of it was my fault for forgetting what date I set the stoop!d things.

so far I have one buff orp baby. I have had a reasonably decent hatch, in spite of all the problems I had. The br bantam eggs aren't due until saturday or so - maybe the rainstorm will raise the humidity and they'll hatch better.

Ok, just checked - I have two more pips (both might be orps, I think) and 11 in the brooder.
I also have one baby in the hatcher still who hatched with a little help (shrink wrap) but he doesn't look so good.

If I can get three orp babies, that'll cover my cuteness addiction for awhile. (plus the br bantam babies, of course - come on bantam eggs!! rah rah rah!)

I was just getting ready to ask anyone about bantam eggs.... we have a Silver Duckwing OEG Bantam Hen and shes so tiny... shes the smallest bantam we have and her eggs are soooo little, I just looked at one and it looked to only be an inch and half, if that. I just dont see how a chick could hatch from that, but apparently they do....... do any of you all have a pic. of a newly hatched bantam that you could post?

also, for comparison... two of the babies here were bantams - the silver and black one and the white one in the feed dish - the white one was Frodo - smallest chick I've ever hatched - he didn't thrive and died at age three weeks.

Frodo was a little smaller than the size of my thumb when he hatched.
