would be funny to see them try to go after Fred and Lucy (Ethel is a pushover, usually, but Fred and Lucy are bullies).

Sounds like mine. Weepweep (am. blue) is such a sissy, it even lets the chickens boss it around. Now Baby Goosie (embden) is such a bully, it even bosses the guineas!! But it hates my lakenvelder roo! It's so funny! B.G. is my bodyguard, whenever I'm in the yard and Goldie the lakenvelder starts coming my way, B.G. comes running and flapping as fast as 'she' can to get in-between me and the roo. I don't know what it is, but that goose hates that bird!!
gig.gif
'She' just gooses him though, doesn't really hurt him. But B.G. even goes after Weepweep!! That I can't understand! And WW lets B.G. get away with it too! Totally different personalities, Idk if it's a breed thing or an individual thing. B.G. has a lot of spunk

My guess is breed - embdens are generally known to be bullies - even to humans - especially to little kids.

So far B.G. is not aggressive to people, and scared to death of Cris!! I'm sure if B.G. decides to be aggressive, 'she' will pick him. He does his best to scare the stuffing out of every animal on this place

I've told him he needs to stop, I guess when they start fighting back I can say 'I told you so'...that's the only time he'll listen

If then....

Sorry, been playing with my quotes....

I think they don't really get mean until they get mature - then ya got to watch them.

But I've heard that about all geese, not just embdens. There are some on here (redhen for one) that have sebastopols less than 6 months old. redhen's gander has been attacking her for months, and sebbies are supposed to be one of the most docile! Plus 6 months is no where near mature. I think it depends on the bird more than anything.

Well, I think I'm gonna call it a night, 6 am comes pretty early

Let me know when those goonies are done hatching, and I'll try to make dad bring me over

I've got some wellies and sussex hatching now too, so I guess I need to get another light

NO BABIES!!!! I felt like strangling Ella this morning when I went to feed and still no goatlings.... Why won't she push those babies out??

She's basicly lost her plug and if her older babies (7mths) would stop nursing, her bag would be bursting full.... I know Newt lost his go-nads in May so it can't be much longer..... I am soooo frustrated....

I have a few 3 mth old scovies that I'd part with if you really need a buddy for your duck....

My animals all are crazy... I have a duck that raised a duckling and a chicken and the chicken still hangs around with the momma duck... I was afraid that the chick would attempt to enter the lagoon with the duck but she just sat on the shore looking longingly at her momma and brother swimming around....

I had a hen raise a couple of ducks and chicks and it was very funny watching the hen herd the ducklings around and pull them under her wing...

So put that duckling in with a hen and he'll be fine... he'll just think he's a chicken for a while....

My duckling is only about a week old, I think some 3 month old scovies would mash it!

Once it's big enough to go to the pond it will have plenty of buddies. I just don't want to put it in a brooder alone, and I've already lost some chicks from the wetness

total count on guineas this morning so far is 5 (including those last night). still waiting on the other eggs.

oh, btw, Shelley, I told hubby that you said I ought to get some guineas.

I cannot repeat his answer on this forum

I'd be banned.

Surely it can't be that bad

I have so many, I'll probably just sell those. I don't really like the pearls, and I already have 4
hmm.png
Most of them are girls though, and I'm a bit short on girls. But most of my lavenders are boys, and breeding lavender to pearl can get at least some lavenders, so I'll probably keep these. I've got 10 white/buff/copper/whatever colored guinea keets in the house now, plus 2 more in a cage in the back yard. Counting those, I have 26 guineas
hmm.png
I don't think I need anymore, and I'm not sure I'll be keeping all the ones that are in the house. Probably some of the girls, but that'd be it. I think the 2 in the cage are a male and female. I'll probably keep both since they are together already. It will take a while for them to integrate with the others, if they ever do. I have 2 groups right now, the older buff males have taken up with the lav/pearl/buff group, then there are 2 younger pearls that think they are chickens...they are always hanging out with that little splash OEGB hen I have
