I'm gonna get off here and go cage the quail - been meaning to anyway, but this is a good excuse to do it.

will be easier for her to see what I have left.

ok, back, got all the quail caged, regained my coop (George's coop) so all I have to do is get rid of the chicks in the top coop and I can put my breeders in their own pens.

That's good, I still need to get some screws, doesn't look like it will be today. Dad is working on that room he's adding on. I'll have to go to town tomorrow or Friday to order Cris's b-day cake, so I'll hopefully remember to get them then.

Mojo Chick'n :

We buy screws in bulk on ebay

we go through so many of them around here (been building a lot of coops, decks, fences and barns) that it would make us go broke buying them at the hardware store.

The shipping would be killer on that, wouldn't it??

they ship UPS usually, it's about 12 bucks, but still, with the total, it comes to less than buying them at the store.

Hi and Welcome to the Ky forums... Most of us do know each other from trading and meeting etc... Next time we have a get together you should join us. You're welcome to come visit about anytime... We're usually home...

Hey KYgal: got a question for you.... I see on craigslist sometimes they list horses for sale and they say saddlebred.... what is that??

I have a 6y/o that loves animals and I really want her to learn to ride something other than our male GP, he's not too fond of being ridden.... What would I look for in a pony/donkey??

MoJo - anytime you want to get rid of extra chicks, you can toss them my way.... My farm is the official "Drop your unwanted animals here" spot.... It seems I keep taking in strays and DH keeps indulging me....

Had to stop at TSC last night to buy more goat and chicken food... didn't last the two weeks it usually does.... I've got three does that are prego and they seem to be eating for two or three these days.....

HI,
Are you in city limits?

If not then you'll just need to butter up the neighbors by bringing them some fresh eggs... Otherwise if so, I couldn't find anything online on your city ordinances.

Okay one more bad news then hopefully we will be done... ARG!
The lady we got Maggie(min Staffordshire Terrier) from finally told her husband she gave her away... Well, he got very mad and demanded she get her back. She gave her away to start with because her hubby has a gambling problem, lost his job and started to sell things off to support his habit, and she was afraid Maggie was next. She started to cry on the phone when she was talking to me about it. The poor lady is doing the best she can to salvage her marriage, so back Maggie goes tomorrow.
Now our friends that was helping the wife try to find a home for Maggie felt awful about it all and about me losing yet another pet and want to give me their male Teddy Bear dog Bandit. I told them I couldn't afford him because they gave like 400.00 each for him and his sister. They said as long as I give them stud rights when they find another female I could have him, No problem here about that so I agreed. They are worried he may get his sister prego and don't want inbreeding. Layne absolutely LOVES Bandit... He is one dog that will play rough with Layne til they both drop from exhaustion. Now lets hope they don't change their mind... If everything goes to plan tomorrow I'll take pics of him and post them.

A Saddlebred is a breed of horse, there are 3 gaited and 5 gaited Saddlebred. If you are looking for a pony or small horse for your daughter you want one that is what they call "Bomb" proof. Meaning that it won't shy or spook at the slightest little thing. You want to make sure that whatever horse you buy has been seen by both a vet and a farrier recently. The vet to make sure it is up to date on it's shots and has had a recent Coggins test. The farrier to make sure that it's hooves are properly trimmed and/or shod. There are alot of people out there selling horses and some are not above pulling a fast one over unsuspecting people.

You might want to look into breeds like Pony of the Americas, Welsh, Shetland, or a good "Grade" horse.
