WOW... these two must know something is up... we let the gang out of the coop today and these two fought like crazy.
I'll deliver one or two of these guys to whomever wants them. They are 6-1/2 months old.
I know rooster fight roosters... that is just the way it is... but, my wife/family really had a hard time with the bloody mess today.
Our big rooster just goes about his own business everybody leaves him alone. Our "runt" (who turned out to be a hen... thank goodness) finally laid an egg last week... she has laid 4 eggs now! She was more than 6 months old before she laid the first egg.
These 3 roosters and the hen are our first experience with chickens... we know nobody really wants mystery roos... and I don't have the heart to "put them in the freezer".
Anything you can do or suggest would be appreciated.
Thank You,

Mrs. Turbo :

Here they are Colby, your new REAL GLWs. The hen is under the roosting pole so you can't see her type....I think they are pretty.

Roos go for $6-$8 each at the chicken swaps around here. If you go early chances are it will be someone wanting a Roo that buys it. The folks who are looking for eating birds usually come a bit later..and they are mostly buying hens these days.

The one on the left appears to have feathers on his legs..if so he may be a Light Brahma or a Light Brahma cross..the other is most likely an Australorp Roo..hard to tell in that position.

Around here, it all depends on the time of year and how pretty it is. I sold a Dominique for $8.00 that was young but his feathers where gronw out and just looked perfect. Then I sold one a year later that was an old bird and got the same. He wasn't as pretty but he definately looked better than before I got him. He was bald from his neck to his tail and had just the short tail feathers. When I sold hime he had grown all his feathers back and was a proud rooster, very pretty. Then I had some very nice Phoenix roosters with real nice tail growth and nobody wanted them. The highest bidder was $1.00. They where just beautiful too. Then i've had to give some way just to get them gone. Unfortunately too many roos spells trouble. Can't have that around here with small grandkids coming around.
