Kentucky people

I've only got one building that gets 'let out' of the ones that are penned, though there are quite a few free rangers yet. The ones that get let out, I went and opened their door and gave them feed like I always do, then went to feed the turkeys. Came inside to get water (hot water to melt the ice) and went back out. Normally these guys would be in the building looking for water by now, but everyone of them was still inside their building. So after thawing their waterer out I just closed them back up...they weren't interested in exploring today

Most of the free rangers were inside the building today, made it very interesting to try and dodge crazy guineas and chickens every time I went in there. They know what the dog food 'can' looks like and what I use the McD's cup for (wild bird seed for the doves) so they got lots of extras today....little beggars.

Does anyone have an LF Light or Dark Brahma hatching eggs available right now? I have a very determined broody Silkie that I would love to put some eggs under. I don't think any of my girls' eggs are fertile right now as I put all the roosters in my rooster coop a few weeks ago. I really hate to waste a broody, especially now that I have a nice big broody box. Or if you have eggs of another breed let me know - I might be interested.

DS went out and measured around with a ruler - average 6.5 inches of snow on level surfaces, up to 8, down to 5. What's wild is how much stuck to VERTICAL surfaces. The sides of my van are 4 inches deep in fluff. Also hickory and ash trees.

Colby, I thought for sure your cool Jeep could make it in the snow.

The cool jeep is at the shop getting a new front end. Otherwise, I would have been hanging out with Nathan and your Mom last weekend. LOL

my mom is not very interesting....you would have had more fun hitching a ride with us to Oklahoma. It sure is taking them a long time to fix your Jeep. the heat in the van is not working very well.....one thing after another darn it and my dryer went out 2 weeks ago too. Guess that was my Christmas present to Jerry...

Still a poultry show in Sadieville this weekend? We are seriously cabin fevered.

There's one in Shelbyville at the fairgrounds on Saturday--The Kentuckiana Poultry Show. I don't know about Sadieville.

Almost all of mine are laying but the eggs aren't fertile and I don't want to move my rooster until the breeding pens are finished.

we have the incubators going and kinda wish we would have waited another couple months....it is too cold to move the chicks out of the basement. yuck.
