So you got rid of the woodsman? I wish I could help (or you could help me lol) but all my roos are banties!

Ok I take that back. Some of the babies are standard cochin/blue splash bantam mixes, so they will be larger than a bantam. I know I have one that is a roo, but I think it is black. Could be blue though, I would have to check. I'll ask my dad though. He has some extra roos. Some of his are white, but he also has RIR and SLW...I'll see what he says...

Matt y,

I live in Elizabethtown, I have 3 Barred Rock Roos, 12 weeks old no problems out of em'. I have too many roos at this time, 5 roos to 6 girls,

.They are a little skittish, don't like to be held, but dosen't mind a pet ever now and then and of course looove treats they are definatly your friend with treats. If you are interested I can post a pic of them tomorrow.

But yeah, I was REALLY hoping to find homes for at least a couple of those roos - happily they all found homes, one way or another, and I didn't have to cull any of them.

I was actually surveying the banty coop and wondering how I can downsize a little more on that front. I am trying to talk Shelley into taking Loretta, LOL got to get a pic of her, first though. Keep in mind, Shel, when I do get the pic she is molting down her front - so her neck and a little of her chest is weird looking. She looks almost roo-ish, but no cape feathers and no fancy tail. With the game in her, I know she would have a cape and a fancy tail by now. She has colors like Charlie, though.

I really need to get rid of at least one of my oegb red pyle roos - I'm thinking Boo, since the other one (Wash) might not be as pretty, but he has the right colored legs, and he is more "manly" than Boo is.

Pretty much all of the pullets stay, I can never have enough pullets, LOL so I have a few more banty roos to find homes for. (although I might part with one or two pullets who are mutts) Does it never end??!!??

I am trying to do what Shelley wants to do - get some pure ones and keep it pure. That means a lot of the mutts, loveable or pretty as they are, have to go.

I can only talk hubby into building me just so many coops to breed them in
wink.png
(heck, I'm amazed he's already built me 4!!

)

I might be able to talk him into a couple more smallish ones - the type that are on legs and have a smallish cage attached, so I can use those just to breed, then turn them back into the flock. But even that will have to wait on the list of things to get done. I would do more tractors, but we've got so many critters to eat them out here, not sure that would be safe enough.

Well, I got to get busy on that dang sewing room, LOL.
Had to take Jon to town to set up a checking account, now that he has a job, and I definately needed the batteries for my remote control, LOL. I haven't had to get up to change a TV channel since I was a kid!! I'm spoiled by technology, tee hee.

Peace -

The tractors are pretty safe, as long as they aren't as ghetto as mine are! The only thing I need to worry about getting into mine is Baby, if she gets off her chain. Princess keeps any predators away, except hawks of course! She can't fly!
lol.png

If you mad some with real doors, and put wire on all sides, they should be fairly predator proof. You could use hardware wire on the bottom, and lower parts of the sides, so nothing could reach in, and it could still be moved, without injury to any feet.

You know whats sad? Getting 4 eggs a day, until I sign on for the October swap. I'll be lucky to get 6 eggs by tomorrow. I go out to check for eggs this afternoon and all I get is Belle laying in an empty nest and...

This little fart egg...Now isn't that sad? I'm gonna have to ship those eggs overnight so she doesn't get old ones...ARGH!!!!!!!

Well, once again, the sewing room remains undone. I went out to help hubby "for just a few moments" and ended up working until critter feeding time. Now I got our dinner in the oven, finally, and all I want to do is sit down and rest.

But, I did get to eat Chinese for lunch and I got them batteries, LOL. So the day wasn't a total wash.

Still have not heard about the cow - I'll probably hear tomorrow. Jon wants a big pot of chili, I told him to wait til I get the cow back, so I don't have to go buy hamburger.

The corral is coming along ok, though, we ought to be done with it in another week or so (it isn't nearly the job that last chicken coop was, LOL.)
We're beefing this thing up so well, it'll hold a full grown pig by the time we're done, if we wanted to put one in there.

Well, got to go finish dinner. Might be able to get online later - if the dang server doesn't slow up again. Last night was impossible to get on this site.

See ya all later -

I got some ideas for tractors in my head, I'll need one for meat chickens come spring, so I'll be building one, just not sure if I want to use PVC or wood. Still debating with
myself. The pvc would be cool, because I could take it apart and put it away (yeah, like I'd leave it empty if I had one,
roll.png
) But the wood is easier to work with - and probably sturdier.

I'll figure it out by then.
