I didn't mind the movie Cujo much, but the book was scary. Whenever I would turn the lights off, I would see those red eyes in the closet!

The mini-series of The Stand was pretty close to the book, imo. They did leave some out, but not as much as they usually do. Stephen King gets a bit too graphic in his books. They would have to come up with a new rating if they copied his books into movies!
I don't think I could reread that book if I tried!! I read that after I quit school, before I had gotten a job, or had kids or anything, so I had plenty of time for it. I think it took me about 4 days...I've always been proud of that! A 1500 pg book in 4 days?? Most people think I'm joking! I can really go through them, if I put my mind to it. And if I don't have many distractions!

Oh yeah, the book was way better than the movie (Cujo) I think in the movie ti was a yellow lab or something. The books usually are better than the movies, though.

I do think they did a pretty good job with The Stand, better than some. Even Children of the Corn (which was actually a short story) was better as a book than the movie.

I miss having lots of time to read

not this week, I just bought a bus ticket for my kid to come home for Christmas - 240 bucks!!!

ouch.

but it'll be worth it to see the brat. He hasn't been down since last Christmas - and he misses his mommy
smile.png

Poor kid is gonna have a 3 hour layover in detroit - I wouldn't wish that on anyone, but aparently Michigan (or at least Grand Rapids) has cut a lot of their Bus Routes - I had the one choice of routes to choose from. Just one route - no other choices, heck, he had 4 choices of routes on going home.

Hope the road to E-town doesn't suck at that time of year this year - last year wasn't too bad, just some rain the night I had to take him back to meet the bus.

But the night I took him back to meet the bus - there was a huge accident down in Tennessee that delayed the bus over an hour and a half - we sat, and sat, and sat... luckily he made the bus station in Lousiville in time to make the switch. Heck, I could have driven him to Lousiville by the time he got picked up in E-town.

So, hubby would probably kill me if I bought more eggs right now - it isn't the price so much as the principle

men are funny about stuff like that.

Maybe you can talk Cindy into it

240 bucks for a bus ticket??? heck it wouldn't cost you that much to DRIVE there!! That is crazy!! A friend of my dad's sent her son to Florida this summer from Tennessee. I think it only cost about $100 round trip! That is just robbery!

Yeah, like I said, I was really bored, and just making a wish list
big_smile.png
I can't buy anything right now!! I am even having to charge my feed for a while. Thank God dad has a charge account!!
I will get to borrow money off him for a change. Heck, he still owes me over $1000, so he better let me! The only difference is I will pay him back!

Well, I figure they are trying to keep people in Michigan, since they are leaving by the truckload

Or maybe Greyhound just hates to go to Michigan - can't blame them there. It is holiday time, too - that is probably part of the cost.

Adam really wants to move down here, but he still hasn't done what I told him he needs to do to move here - like get a driver's licence!! He's a good kid, just a bit lazy and too involved in his dang computer to care about other stuff.

I'd love for him to move down here - just not into MY house
lau.gif

He can move into the extra trailer until he has a job and a few paychecks - but that means a car and a driver's licence - I'm not driving him everywhere.

He has known the requirements for moving down here for 5 years !!! Still hasn't done anything about it. I was even going to GIVE him a van for free - if he would get his licence. Didn't do it.
Heck, if someone would give me a car for free, you can bet I'd do everything I could to get a licence to drive it.

This is one (of many) reason(s) I wouldn't let him just move in with us. Love the kid dearly - but I know my kid too well.

Meri (who ought to have gone to bed long ago but spent the last two hours lurking around alibris books - which I shouldn't have anyway cause I can't buy any.)

Well -

Been searching for a new feed store this morning (still).

I called Edmonton -

No, I don't think I'll be buying in Edmonton. Their prices are higher than any I've heard of yet.

Tried to call Burkesville, got no answer - I need to call Russell Springs, still. It is further to drive, but it is parkway, so not too bad.
There are a couple of feed stores in Russell Springs.

Then I called Day & Day and chatted with her (can't remember her name) this morning. Now, I REALLY like Day & Day - they are knowledgable, friendly - always have an answer for my endless questions, AND they post their prices right there on the wall for you to see.

Hubby, however, is looking for cheapest price.

I called her this morning to ask if they had the Flock Blocks - I figured that might keep them from being so bored this winter. She said she used to get them in for a guy, but he stopped buying them, but she can order them and thinks they were about 9 bucks each. I may have her get me some in. Shelley - did you want any also? She puts her Purina order in on Fridays she said.
Also, how much of the flock raiser do you go through a month? I am wanting to switch to crumbles (they won't eat the pellets.)

A bag of Flock raiser is 13.20 - and if it'll last me a little longer, it is only about 3.50 more than what I am buying now - and I despise M&W - they are raising all their prices at least 20% while Day & Day has gone down on a LOT of their feed. Yesterday the cracked corn had gone down to 6.25 a bag, and whole corn was 6 bucks a bag. (just last week or so the cracked corn was 6.45 - and that was down from a month before).

I have one bag left from M&W (mash) that I figured to mix with a bag of cracked corn and a few scoops of soybean meal. Maybe I'll try a bag of Flock raiser to see if they like it, after that is gone.

Hubby was bitc... complaining about how much the chickens eat, yesterday. They do eat more in the winter, and since we've had not enough rain to say so lately, it is slim pickings even for free ranging.

I asked them about their pig food at Day & Day, too - they have the pig and sow pellets - about 10 bucks a bag, she said. Not too bad, since the chicken mash is 9.50 at M&W (and technically it is hog mash) plus, with the multiple bag discount, it'll take some off.

The more folks I call and ask, the more it is looking like Day & Day is about the best place around (in three towns at least) to buy feed.

Now if I can just convince hubby to spend a little more on chicken feed there, it'll even out with the discount on the other food.

You DO NOT want to go to Russelle Springs!! My friend May usually goes there for her feed. She drove all the way from there to Day & Day to get it...there cracked corn was $18 for 100#!!!!! That is crazy!!! I will probably always use Day & Day!
What are Flock Blocks?? I've never heard of those.
I only feed my Flock Raiser to the ducks, but I get a bag about every 10-14 days. And that's for 10 ducks! Plus the baby guineas get it, and the quail of course. Now that I got rid of all those babies, I only get a bag of chick start about every 10-14 days as well. I can't wait till I get my coop built, or dad gets his big chickens put up somewhere! They are pigs!!

I need to build so many buildings! I need one for the guineas, one for the turkeys I'm getting next month (oops! I didn't tell dad about that yet!), one for the ducks, and then the huge chicken coop!! I'm gonna need a LOT of wire for the pens and cages!!

IF ANYONE KNOWS OF SOMEONE WITH ANY TYPE OF WIRE FOR CHEAP, LET ME KNOW!!! I don't care if it is chicken, chain, whatever. Even woven wire would be OK for the turkeys and ducks, just so long as they couldn't get out. I'm not worried about something getting in, Princess takes care of that!

Plus I need to make a flight pen for the chukars and bobwhites I'm gonna get next year, but that can wait. Now THAT will take a lot of wire!! I still need to get specs for it. My neighbor, would be one of my buyers, said it needs to be about 100' long. I figured I'd put it in the horses' pasture, they have a lot of open space!
