Kentucky people

Meri, you should try Sulmet in the water! It stops Coryza, says the guy at UK. After I put it in our water no more birds got sick and all the sicky chicks recovered. Sulmet didn't seem to help the full grown ones that were already ill though, seemed like they were just doomed.

Thanks!! I think this baby is a boy...just a hunch. I'll be shocked if it's a girl.

My baby chicks didn't come today. I'm so worried about them, and my hormonal state surely isn't helping.

How many kids do you already have? Are they mostly boys? I have nothing but boys. The pregnancies were pretty easy, but that's just the calm before the storm!! When are you due??

Is there anyway you can check and see where your chicks are? That would worry me! You said they were supposed to be shipped yesterday? It might take them another day to get there. I just hope the P.O. calls you if they happen to show up on turkey day!!

I have three sons -

I would SO rather have boys than girls.

I have two nieces - that's as close as I ever want to get

Christmas duckling and goslings anyone??

Girls arent that bad. I guess it is what you get use to. I have 2 girls. One is 11 and a 18 month old. My oldest is a big help. Plus girls are suppose to help around the house. Boys dont wont to do household chores. When I can get mine to help is wonderful.

Turkey anyone? I have two Bourbon Red hens 19-20 weeks old weighing in around 12 lbs. Pasture raised, this last month with corn to fatten a little. I dressed as many as I need for this season, I need the room so out they go $ 30. each, or take both for $50. Would make good breeders for next spring. Local pickup only, I live in Mt. Sterling Ky. Pm me if you want-em

Ok, get this ----

Double has healed herself totally - no snot, no swelling, nothing.

So what the heck IS this weirdness I got happening here????

Seeing how good she is doing makes me re-think culling the whole pen.

Well, I guess maybe I'll just leave it as it is til spring, then see what happens (if any more get sick)

so I'll spare you all the grisly details.

Mom and Budd are going home Saturday, I guess. I'll have some breathing space, before Adam gets here, now.

I really need to get into the hatching room and totally re-work the place. Plus I need to finish that hatcher - which I can do fast, but still, seems like I don't have time this week to work on it. Maybe tonight I'll cut and bend the wire, at least.

I need to grab the coffee table from the boys, after Sat. so I can put the snake tank on it, to put Button Quail babies into

Oh, almost forgot - when my sister comes down next spring she's bringing my flight cage !!! Woohoo!!!! Hubby built it for my finches, years ago, and I let her sister in law borrow it when I sold her some finches (cause I got out of them) and she's gonna grab it and bring it to me for brooding or quail or whatever I want to put in it.

It is 6 foot long by 2 foot deep and about 3 foot high. Looks like furniture - hubby did a nice job on it. Haven't seen it in awhile, it may need some work when it gets back to me, but it'll be easy to spiff up. The wire is 1/2 inch hardware cloth, too, so it'll hold any little bird I put in there. The floor is solid wood, and the back is wood; front, top and sides are wire screen. It has plexi slider doors (lift up to open) in tracks for the doors on the front (two of those). The doors look like picture frames when closed. Has panelling over the wood frame and molding to cover the edges.

I had three of them (I was breeding finches for awhile) but this one is all that's left of the three, I believe.

I can't wait

now I have to find a place to put it,

Could it just have been a cold she got? I new to all this chicken business and I am still learning things everyday. Glad to hear that you won't have to cull the coop for the moment, but I guess that means your DH will have to build a new coop for the new babies.
