Yeah, I can get it up to 65% no problem, the problem is keeping it DOWN to that

Yeah, it is just for hatching, so the higher humidity is great - just not 75-80% humidity. It reads 58% when it is turned off - when it is on, it spikes really high.

Oh, btw - I talked to Julie at Day & Day today. She said I was right that the cornish cross are special order, and no cornish cross are in the big bin, so what your dad has is White Plymouth Rocks. (which is better, anyway, IMO)

I think I'm gonna wait til spring, so I know for sure what these ones are, then I can brood them outside more than inside.

them babies get stinky.

eta - however, if Speckles and his ladies get busy, I may incubate some of those.

check the feathering on those cochin babies feet, though - I had no idea it would be that thick so soon - I figured it would come in later, and just be slight feathering when they were this young.

One of them has huge hock feathers - I think someone said that was a fault, but since I'm not showing, I don't care.

Yeah, I like the jar I am using, it is very stable (not tippy) so I will probably try covering half next, I'll start checking it again tomorrow or so. Gonna need it in another week

The paper towel would help to dry it out some as well.

Hey Meri, we haven't seen picks of the big guy with his new girlys have we?

Oh yeah Shelley did you get to see the babies closer yet?

Wow BC is about ready for the real world...I can move her in with cheepers, the Brilkie, and the Shelley chicks...Sorry Shelley we just haven't named them yet. BTW that splash is the absolute sweetest baby, from the time we brought them home. The black one is friendly to a point and a little aloof too. The Brilkie acts like your killing it, and Cheepers is a gem, she's such a momma.

Now my younger ones is a different story...Most are aloof except the BLRWxBCM. I think this cross and the EE are both males, just by their personalities/stances.

Ok, Cindy, this morning I went out to try and get pics of the babies. No dice, mama sitting tight on the bitties. So I went out before I went to get Cris off the bus, and she had come off the nest, and was sitting on the babies on the floor! She was positioned so she could get some food and water, and she kept tucking the little boogers under her belly!! All I could spot was a head or occassional foot! So maybe I'll have better luck tomorrow!
