Hey everyone I'm here in Hardin County need to see if anyone has ordered from Meyer Hatchery in Ohio?
I'm in Breck co. I ordered from them last Fall. My chicks came happy and healthy. Lost one to a predator. Still have 2. Had just placed a new order with them, but was only 6 chicks, so I had to cancel. :( Didn't think about the whole 15 minimum. OOPSY.

I haveLF BO's and an hatching some Bantam Chocolates now. So, that's my flock. Now, I just want to add a tiny bit of variety, a few funny hens like a Sultan, a polish, a few EE's, things that are not "ordinary", but lay a different color egg, so I don't accidentally slip one in my hatching egg orders. Lol

I prefer the feather legged breeds so thinking Brahmas and Cochins.

I just ordered some Cochin eggs from a breeder. Waiting for the cold spell to have them shipped. Cochins are my favorite....so sweet but broody. I have one black hen now and she is very tame.

Some tractor supply stores are carrying brahmas and they get theirs from hatcheries. May wanna call and see what they have.

Does the city ordinance mention anything about the ages of the chickens? In our town we can only have six that are "6 months old or older", which allows for meat birds that wouldn't be kept until that age.

I ordered my Easter Eggers and Black Australorps from Cackle Hatchery in Missouri and had no problems whatsoever.
City Ordinance doesn't say anything about age. Just five hens, one Roo. I'm ordering three Easter Eggers and three Plymouth Rock. I've been looking at Meyer Hatchery in Ohio. I am hoping to find a local place that can order for me, since shipping on six tiny chicks is $28!

ideal poultry has free shipping on orders over $25....sometimes you will get "packing peanuts" for warmth during shipment. I thought their prices were reasonable.

I ordered from Ideal Poultry. I ordered the surprise special. I ordered 15 pullets. The first time they sent them they all arrived dead.... polar vortex I guess. Although they do not add heat packs to the boxes. They add day old roosters for heat. First time they sent them with 5 roo's (packing peanuts). The second time it was warmer and they arrived all alive. They sent 10 packing peanuts with them. I got three different breeds with 3 of each breed on the pullets. The packing peanuts I thought were the same but they look to be two separate breeds.

I want to try the ad the I seen in my SKRECC electric book. It makes me curious as I have never really heard of the breeds they mentioned.....

This is what the ad said

Phone number was here. (don't know if I can put it on here)

I am thinking that maybe they are only meat birds???
I wouldn't have anything to do with meat birds or I would give it a try.

Does anyone have gooseberry bushes that I could get a few slips from to start my own? Or know anywhere fairly local that I could purchase some from? I live in Bracken County. The local Southern States said that none of their suppliers handled them so they couldn't help me.
