Kentucky people

I guess I'm just too used to straight, flat roads! It really makes me nervous riding on slick roads here. Even if I'm only riding!

Can you believe the crazy weather today? It was raining like crazy this morning, and now it's just as sunny as can be! I hope it stays that way, cause I really need to do laundry!

The people from one of the finance companies dad had a loan through came here yesterday. Of course this is the one that has his car. They are supposed to be sending a tow truck to come get it. That really stinks. I use his car to take Cris to the bus. Especially now, since the creek that runs through the driveway has a lot of water in it! I'm hoping I can borrow a friend's truck. It just sets at her brother's house, she doesn't use it anymore. It would work to drive up and down the driveway in. My car won't do it, unless I want to hook it up to the charger every day. I need to take it to my sister-in-law's brother. He has a garage over in Russell Co. See if he can figure it out. FrChuckW said it could be the cables, and I didn't think we had changed it. Dad said he did. I don't remember buying a battery cable, but oh well. So it's not the cable, the battery, or the alternator. Hmmmmm...... It just has a short in it somewhere.

Yeah, I looked outside a few minutes ago and the sun was shining. It looked nice, I opened the door - wind is still crazy, but I'm glad I let the chickens out. I have a feeling they may be cooped up at some point this next week.

Good day to hang clothes, if stay sunny or at least not raining

that wind will have them dry before ya get done hanging them all.

eta - I'm gonna go out and get soem pics while it is nice enough to be out there. Be back

Ok, pics of various chickens....

First the "chicken corral". It still has bracing up, since it is cold and the cement didn't want to set up very quickly. We also still need to cut off the posts at the right height - just waiting for a nicer day and/or more dry time on the cement.

Miss Piggy, sitting on more eggs than she's ever seen at once in her whole life.

Miss Celie - looking good now that her feathers are all back in and she's putting on weight since she moved back into the coop.

Well I guess this means there won't be any donkey stew for Christmas.

I think they'd be too tough to eat.

Did ya look at my "other critters" page on byc? it has pics of all the donkeys - Maggie and Nibbler were the worst offenders.

The chicken corral looks good Meri. Can I borrow your hubby to work around here a while?

Well, I got my clothes hung out, cleaned all the stinking boxes/cages in the bedroom out, and that's about it!

I need to fix that one tractor so I can put the big chicks in there. All the babies in the bedroom were sitting and pooping on the towel over their box last night, so they really need to go! If that one red pyle cockerel weren't so mean, I could probably put the inside babies out there with the others, but I know that one red pyle cockerel would beat them up. Ugh! I'll probably do that soon, before it starts getting dark. I know it'll get cold, and then I won't want to do anything. So if I happen to disappear agian, that's probably what I'll be doing.

Oh, btw, dad's car is still here, still waiting on the tow truck to come get it. And guess what? Dad's fuel pump went out on his truck

He claims that he has another one somewhere around here, but for those of you that have been here, you know just how impossible that is to find it! I give up on trying to organize things. It's impossible. I was gonna take Cris to the doctor today, since he has a real bad cough at night. Almost like his throat is irritated. He threw up 3 times last night cause he was coughing so bad. But now we have no vehicle to get there. Life sucks sometimes! My car might work, but my luck it would get there and not come back.

I spent the last hour talking to folks in Michigan, where it is 25 degrees and blowing snow - I had to call to tell them that it is 68 and sunny, here

They have about 400 schools closed up there - everything is closing, except the bars, of course.

got to go work on the chicken corral, (hubby says) so I'll be back later after I do that, then take Jon to work, and hit the store, and whatever else I have to get done today.

Child Torture 101.....

So, I'm making dinner, and I haven't seen Sam, since he got home while I was in town, and I called him over to our place to "talk to him a minute".

"Your school called today," says I, looking stern, "They said you have to come in for Saturday School tomorrow."

Looking worried and perplexed, Sammy says, "They didn't say anything to me about it, why do I have to go in?"

"Because you are behind in credits on the agri course - you're not gonna graduate if you don't make up those credits," says I, annoyed that I have to get up in the morning to take him to school, (and trying to keep a straight face.)

"I have to go in tomorrow?!" Sam asks increduously.

"Yep," says I, "6 AM I got to have you in there." I stand there in silence, giving him the evil Mom look.....

Sammy looks at me, looks at the floor, looks at the dog.... I can't take it anymore, I crack the slightest hint of a smirky smile....

Sammy visibly relaxes and asks, "Did you call me over just to mess with my head?"

"Yep," say I, "Merry Christmas."

Sammy walks away smiling and shaking his head that his mom is such a nut-job.
