Hey Meri
Do you have a brace on your wrist. I wouldnt have thought but I had trouble with my wrist back in the summer. Too much building. I finally even went to the doctor. I had a case of tendenitis. She had me wear a brace. By the next day it was actually much better. If you dont have some kind of brace wrap it where you cant bend it much.
I hope it gets better.

I had a heat wrap on it last night, and that helped (it also kept it from bending much). I have a couple more of them, have yet to put one on this morning. It's hard to type with it on

I don't know what happened here, I took a nap in a chair yesterday, and I think I jammed my hand down between me and the chair (I was cold

) and slept on it twisted, and it tightened up or something.

Hope it clears up after today - it's a pain in the butt to do chores one handed.

OMG!!! Can you say BRRRRRRR?????

God! I couldn't believe how cold it was last night!! All of my incubators dropped temps, so hopefully I didn't kill anything. The three duck eggs are all still pipped, but that's it. Just 3 little pips staring back at me

Why do they have to be so aggravating??

I cheated with my water this morning. I was anticipating it being frozen, so I had an empty bucket sitting outside the door. I filled it with warm water and away I went! Had to thaw all the bunnies bottles/cups, the outside quails waterer, Gertie's babies waterer, the chicks that I moved to the tractor, even the chicks on the porch!! And they were covered with a light! I think they need a stronger bulb in there. I believe it's only a 60 watt, so I need to get some 100 w when I go to town today. The poor chicks in the tractor were so hungry, they all came out when I went to feed them! Then they proceeded to sit on their feet and eat while I filled their water! Silly babies!

One of my red pyle roos has a frostbit comb

What can I do for it? I know a lot of people dock their combs anyway, I wonder how that's done? Might as well, if they're gonna freeze off anyway.

I was just considering going back out to look for eggs, I only had one this morning, I know I have more, now.

I wouldn't want to try dubbing, personally, but if you're brave, there are instructions on how to do it online. Basically you take a pair of sharp scissors and cut it off (ouch!).

eta - this is the last super cold day, supposedly, tomorrow it's gonna be about 34, then back up to around 50 daytime and 40ish at night.

Gosh, wouldn't it bleed real bad? I am not sure if it will come off on it's own, it is not black, but it is pretty blue/grey. Poor guy. I didn't see the others to know if there's were the same, I hope not.

I found one egg this morning, I think it is dad's game pullet. It was real bloody on the outside, and it is bigger than my bantam eggs, yet smaller than his cochin's eggs, plus it is off-white. It might be my little 'dark cornish' hen, or whatever she is. I'll have to check her out to see what color her ears are!

I let the layers out, since the sun is actually not toobad out there, no wind, so it is warmer feelign than it actually is.

I went into Speckle's cell, and a white rock was sqatting over the nest and out plopped an egg

never seen one come right of them before.

Yeah, I would think it would bleed really badly. Not sure what they put on it to stop the bleeding.

Those NH Red roos (the bad boys) had the tips of their combs frostbit before, it turns them black, and it'll drop off eventually, sometimes. It didn't kill them to be frostbit a tiny bit, so I didn't do anything about it at the time.

Yeah, see that's why I kinda think I'll just leave it. It is not black, so maybe it will heal itself. And if it does fall off, oh well, he's a game anyway. It will look kinda weird, since it will be about half dubbed, but I don't plan on keeping him anyway.

Thanks Chicknmama for the threads in my welcome post. I checked my girls out this morning for frostbite and I did not see anything. I am worried though due to not having any heat in the coop other than the fountain warmer which does not help. It was 5 degrees this morning (7 am) in their coop however they have laid 3 eggs so far and appear to be happy and content. They are all Buff Orps so they have plenty of feathers and the coop is deep in wood shavings and dry. My last egg hunt which was about an hour ago it was 29 in their coop. Hopefully the worst part of the cold is over for a few days.
