Well, I officially have 2 seramas, and no frizzles
hmm.png
Not sure how that happened? I thought seramas were supposed to be hard to hatch, but I am 2 for 2 on my first serama attempt. They both look the same, white with blackish color on the ends of their wings. The one and only frizzle zipped halfway around the shell and died

I got my eggs from Gatekeeper today. Most of them are frizzles and welsummers. There are 4 I think porcelain d'uccles, one dutch (don't know what color), 2 that are marked SF, so I'm assuming those are salmon favorelles. There was only one black jap, and it got broken

Oh well, the order was for 12 and he sent 21, so that's not bad. He said there was 24, and the note in the box said they were all wellies, porcelains, japs, and frizzles, so maybe he got the cartons messed up? Oh well, no biggie. I planned on selling most that hatch anyway. I was hoping he would put some golden lakenvelders eggs in there, but no luck

Cindy, did you get your eggs yet?

No not yet, thought I'd e-mail her if I don't get anything by Friday because she never responded to my message about pmt being sent. Her DD if I remember correctly is special needs and was sick last month, I hope she isn't sick again...Poor girl.

Well, I swapped chickens today - the two sets of hens fought for a bit, but seem to be fine now. Eleanor got a bloody foot - but she isnt limping, and it has stopped bleeding, so I'm thinking she'll be fine. Not sure how it happened, no one else has blood on them. Tried to put Jose' in that coop - and he and Mr. Speckles had a major throwdown - so it looks like Jose' has to go to the auction. So, I'll just wait on an extra roo til I hatch one out, I guess.

My ratio isn't bad right now, anyway, at least until I have the chicks I ordered and they are ready to go out (this summer sometime) - I have one roo for 12 hens. Heck, I got a batch in the bator right now, Maybe I'll get one of Mr. Speckles baby boys to throw in there for the extra roo.

I put the Japs into a cage inside the coop, so they don't get caught up in the "shift battles" that are going on. I have all the bantam cochins in the coop with the cochin babies and the other hatched out ones I had out there. Everyone seems to be ok with the japs, except for Chickaboom, and he can be mean. He had the jap girl by her comb earlier, so I figured I'd put her and the jap boy someplace safer. They seem pretty happy, actually, to be seperate.

Jose', the spitzs and Loretta are all in one coop - Jose' has control of the floor, with Loretta, Roscoe and Flip higher up in the cell

. I'll keep monitoring that one to make sure the other guys get to eat and drink. It'll only be until I can get out to Sano again - probably next friday, this friday will be too cold.

I could seperate even more, but Roger needs to borrow my new cage to pick up those guineas saturday, so I can't fill it up with anyone. Would be perfect, though, for putting some of the older chicks into for now.

Hmm... maybe I'll put them in temporarily, until I have to loan it out, then I can temp put them back into the cochin cage - I want those guys to get busy and make friends, if ya know what I mean. (or maybe Roger should buy his own dang cage....)

Oh well, still working out the kinks....

eta - went back out to check chickens, the rir hen was picking at poor Eleanors foot, so I caught her and put some blukote on it - turns out it was a blood feather that got yanked or broken - poor girlie. Hope this will stop the picking. Now I got a blue thumb and finger.

going to be like 5 degrees tonight, I hope the baby pigeons live. brrrr. Shelly I went out to my pigeon loft 2 weeks ago to throw away eggs and found 4 babies! I guess I didnt pay to much attention. I wish you could hatch chics under pigeons lol....hmmm wait . Pigeons will set on a plastic egg for 20 plus days....I wonder if they turn them? That would be so cool. I would just have to get them as soon as they hatched or the pigeons might scaulp them.

Yeah, but only 2 at a time might take a while!! Did you see that we (my son and I) now have a pair of parlor roller/tumblers? Not sure which they are, I haven't taken them out of their cage in a while. I'll figure it out sooner or later!

Ok, I lied. I do have 2 seramas, but one is white with blackish wing tips, the other is a real light peach color with blackish wing tips. They are so cute!! Cris does not like the idea of being able to keep them, but I told him we would only have them until they weren't babies anymore, and by then he wouldn't want them anymore anyway. He'll get over it! By that time, he'll have so many silkie babies, he'll keep himself busy!

I think ducks steal your hearts faster than silkies do!!

Speaking of silkies, one of Cris's pullets is squatting for me

I'm already thinking a pair will NOT be nearly enough... who's your duck dealer, Cindy, maybe you can "hook me up"
