For you Shelley on the car mechanic! Yeah they will remove the debris if you have it out by the curb and cut up.

However, I need to get it done, although it is snowing here right now in Louisville.

They are calling for 1-3 inches, just what we don't need right now!

I wish I could get a chipper/shredder to use as well, then I would have a ton of free mulch for the flower beds and gardens!

Well, I'm considering it. I ordered 15 Delaware pullet chicks from Cackle back in January and they ought to be here in March sometime.

I'm just calculating how much space I have
lau.gif
I'm running out of room to brood babies in my little sewing room. I've got 20 ducklings coming end of the week, and I have three chicks that are three weeks old (or so) and the tally on hatched chicks from this weekend is 8 so far - still have them hatching. They're really dragging it out this time - must be because of the weird temp fluctuations.

I do want delawares, though. Problem would be convincing Hubby that I need even MORE chicks to brood in the house

If you still have any next week, after the ducklings, and after I hit Sano to see what I can get rid of outside in the coops, then I can let ya know. If ya get rid of all of them, that's ok, too - don't save any for me or anything.

Well, the new ducks didn't like going outside this morning - it may have been cause it's all strange, or it may have been the nasty wind blowing. They are back inside their coop for now. The other two, Bossy and Chewtoy went on up the hill, but went back down again pretty fast, too
lau.gif
poor babies, it is COLD out there.

BC tried coming out this morning, made it as far as the "duckhouse" at the top of the hill, and went inside to hunker down. I walked over and bent down to ask her if she wanted to go back to the coop and she ran up to me so I could pick her up and take her back down
lau.gif
she didn't care for that wind, either - can't say I blame her, my face hurt by the time I got back inside. The donkeys were even hiding from the wind, and they've got lots of fur on them right now.

Three days of this then it's gonna be nice again, though, so I just got to hang in there. I hate winter.

Oh I know what you mean! It was sooooo cold walking Cris to the bus this morning!
That poor millie hen I got from Cindy is so unhappy! She does not like being in a cage at all! I think I'm gonna get some plywood and wire and make another tractor for them and the cochins, to get them out of those cages. It would make everyone happier. I also need to get something for nest boxes. I wish I would have gotten some of those milk crates from Kelly at the sale the other week. Maybe he'll be there this week again with some, so I can get a couple off of him.

Dad is such an idiot. He cleaned out the building to spread that rock down. Of course, once I got home, he more or less quit until it was almost dark, then came out and acted like he was doing sooo much! So needless to say, it didn't get done. He didn't put that dresser back in there, so his hens don't know where to lay. He said oh they'll find someplace....yeah dad, but you might not find it! How stupid!

I have to go to Walmart today, I have a list of stuff I meant to get this weekend, but I ended up not getting to Walmart (I hate going to big stores, I prefer small stores - unless it's Hobby Lobby, of course,

)

If it isn't too nasty out I plan (so far) to go to Sano friday. I guess it depends on the ducklings coming in and when they get here, and when I can leave the house
gig.gif
I know they'll be fine by themselves in the playpen - but how can I sit and watch them if I am at Sano?
Maybe I'll get my fill of Duckling watching before Friday night if they arrive soon enough.

I had another chick hatch last night sometime - he is complaining a LOT in there, poor little guy. He is all by himself in the bator still, and he's looking for company. He's still wet, though, so I am trying to wait til he dries off more to put him into the brooder bin. The others are all looking good, finally. Fluffed up on their own this time. I think it helped that I put that humidifier in there.

For being a glorified house trailer, this place is sure air tight - and it dries out really bad in the winter in here. My poor hands are so dry right now, they are like sandpaper - been putting lotion on 10 times a day it seems like.

Yeah, we will probably hit walmart today too. Dad has to go and get feed, and I need to put some $$ on my card. I also have some eggs to send out that are already boxed, so they have to go! I need to figure something out to use to make a tractor that dad doesn't have to help me with. I have never used a saw or drill, so I'm not sure if I could do that! So I'm thinking plywood is out, since I would have to cut it at least. Plus I don't know any place in Columbia to get plywood. If I had a full piece, I could probably make a tractor big enough for the millies and the cochins, and just divide it like the one the silkies are in. I don't know, but I need to do something. They are not happy at all!

Coomers over on 61 north (going out past the GATE gas station and Lee's chicken - it's a red building on the right.) I get most of my wood there, some stuff they are higher on, but it is better quality wood (usually) than Lowes, and it is closer. Most stuff is about the same price as Lowes, though.

They don't do credit cards, but they do cash or check.
btw-- when you get ready to build coops, they deliver for a small fee (Like 15 bucks or something) if you've got bigger amounts of wood to buy.

eta - they are between the car dealerships, so not far out of town at all.

Coomers? I wonder if they are in the book? I looked, but didn't see anything with that name. I'll have to go check again.

I wish we had a home depot here. I know they would cut the wood for you! I hope this place does too! Dad always expects me to help him with things, but acts like it will kill him to help me!
