Kentucky people

Happy Valentine's Day people. Hope you have a great day.

Flowerpot and I went to the Shepherdsville Stockyards again today, along with her sister and her niece. We met up with Ametaus there. There was the usual assortment of chickens, both large and small, ducks, geese, rabbits, some guineas.

One guy had several different types of Pheasants, and some really nice Peafowl, Indian Blue, lavendar(?) and black shouldered, and some Man Geese, which have got to be the smallest breed of geese I have ever seen.

Flowerpot got a really nice white Tom Turkey, her niece got 6 baby ducklings and I wound up with a really nice Blue Splash Silkie pullet! The guy had whites, the blue splash, and some blacks, if I had had more money I would have gotten one in each color. I have already named her Liza Jane.

And there were some quail there too.

And yesterday I got a package through UPS, it turned out I won a prize from Basic Cigarettes. The contest was called "My Dogs are Barking" and I won a really nice big pet pillow. The furkids really love their present from Daddy!

Thanks Everyone!!!!!!!

Sounds like a good time was had by most people today, in regards to getting birds. Flowerpot brought over the two Mille Fluer D'Uccle hens today. One hen went gamey on me when the roo started to pay attention to her, She just hunkered down and spread her wings out at let him know she just wasn't into him!

And LizaJane(my new blue splash silkie) was already mothering the 7 standard pullets even though they are as big as her. I can't wait to see what happens with them all tomorrow. Chickens are such fun!

Well, Cackle Hatchery called me and said it'd be mid March before they could ship my Dellie pullets - since the Dellies aren't laying there, I guess.

That's ok, though, I'll be getting other chicks mid March, maybe I can stick them all in the same brooder.

She offered me a substitute - the dellie/NHR cross -- I think she could tell by my "Ew" that no, I wasn't interested in those. It just came out of my mouth before I could stop it

.

Red chickens are evil. I have got two red chickens, who act somewhat normal - every other red chicken I've ever had (and there have been many) have been the strangest, most aggressive, most psychotic things I've ever seen. No thanks - no NHR crosses or RIR crosses or whatever...

So, I'm gonna get off here, because I've been sort of disgusted with BYC lately - almost made a public post earlier that would surely have gotten me banned, or at the very least attacked by the "in crowd" - so I'm gonna go sit and watch some TV with hubby.

Later all -

There is a few on here that like to raid peoples forums and just chat away...bugs the crap out of me!! and it is starting to get old now there is hardly anyone that is on here besides the new people!!!

OK sorry that I have abandoned everyone the last couple of days. I think I stayed logged on at work, but I havent actually been. oops.
Well I just love my new silkies. My show girl hurt her toe. She bleed just a little. I dont know what she done. All of my silkies seem to be getting along. My white roo wanted to strut but the new guy just backed him up and walked away. I dont know if I will keep them all together or build another coop.
I did build my mother n law a chicken tractor. The house is 4x4 and the run is 4x8. It turned out pretty good for a GIRL. I will have to get some pictures of it but that will be at least Thursday. I have to work the next 4 days. I want to take a vacation and pack my bags. The hubby is being a total butt. Sometimes it is just not worth it.
But anyway I get to relax a little to day. I have 12 hours to work. Peace and Quiet.

We have a bunch of chicks right now that hatched out 1 week ago. White leghorn, barred rock, and a couple of buff brahmas. I am considering selling my cochins. I want to just have 1 kind and I really like the brahmas.
