Nice, I wouldn't mind having a maran or two for the egg color, would be neat, but I don't want to "feed the monster", if ya know what I mean

eta - my husband says I'm just too "bloody stubborn" to run with the crowd.

Yeah chicken raising reminds me of an old Chaka Khan song from the 70's?Once You Get Started

I was looking at fruit trees the other day at Lowes - wanted some nectarines and some newer apple trees.

would be cool to have citrus trees here - maybe a dwarf tree I could store in the garage over winter (in a big pot). I'd love to have a lime tree (to go with Jose'

)

btw, Jose' is invited to my house tonight, after I pick Jon up from work....

Do any of you all by some chance want to foster or adopt an 18 year old orange male cat? He's healthy. He was abandoned at a shelter and a rescue group is trying to find him a safe retirement home before he's put to sleep. He just needs a soft couch or lap to spend his remaining days napping on!

My own girl is almost 18 - and once she goes, I'm done with cats for awhile. I love her dearly (she was born the same day as my youngest son) but a senile cat is no fun to clean up after

I've tried getting other cats over the years, and she basically hates me to bring in any other cats.

Sorry, hope ya find someone to take him.

Can you plant dwarf trees in big pots?? I was looking at the apple trees at Lowes but I didn't know if we had a good place to plant it, and I don't want to plant something like that then end up moving in a year...

I want to keep him myself, but I've already rescued 4 cats and I think 5 would be pushing scary cat lady territory.

At least that's what my husband says...

There has to be someone somewhere in this state that would want him...I feel so sorry for the old man, having to die alone and stressed in a shelter.

If you had a big enough pot I imagine ya could, but the pot (if I moved it) would probably have to be lifted onto a skid and moved with the tractor

Or have it on wheels and move it that way, maybe - I'm thinkign for a tree you'd still need a good 3 or 4 foot diameter pot.

When I worked at Kmart a few years ago, they had those 1/2 whiskey barrels. Those are perfect for a small citrus tree! You could actually keep it in your house, since I'm pretty sure they fruit in the winter. I know oranges do, but I don't know about the mini trees. You should look there and other places to see if you can find a couple of those barrels.
I'm going to have pomegranate trees, provided I don't kill them! I bought some seeds off ebay, they were only $.80 for 5, so we'll see how they do. I don't know if they can be left outside in this climate though? I hope so!! It would stink if they froze out
